Are mark of chaos psychic powers considered to be part of the dark hereticus discipline? The way I read it I'd be inclined to say no. Mostly wondering in regard to how it interacts with chaos familiar.

A mark of chaos psychic power is just that, it replaces a Dark Hereticus power.

They are not. You're just given permission to replace one of the ones you normally could take from the Dark Hereticus discipline with one of the Mark of Chaos powers. The power itself is not part of the Dark Hereticus discipline.

So my understanding that when using chaos familiar strat you're able to choose the regular 6 powers but not the mark ones is correct then?

Correct. You can replace a Mark power with a Dark Hereticus power, but you cannot replace a Mark power or Dark Hereticus power with a Mark power.
