Subject: Any guard players out there willing to spend time developing a fluff list with me?

Hey guys!
An impulsive purchase or two has left me wondering where to go next.
Captivated by the idea of building and painting a fluffy Guard regiment, I've bought 3 squads worth of mixed brayherds and cadian shock troops. with conversions; they will make perfect auxiliarys, conscripted men for my force. I plan to integrate them into squads with a handful of converrsions, but i'm left wondering where to go next?
I'll probably want a commissar, and everyone and their grandma is gonna tell me to take a company commander for those sweet sweet orders.... but beyond the battalion? where would people advise I head? -Chimeras? Sentinels? Russ? Valkyrie? talk to me guys; what are your initial impulses?
Fluffy and Competitive suggestions equally valued!

Regiments with Auxilia are probably desperate infantry regiments, i would suggest to go with commisars as hq, big scarred beastmen veterans, and maybee conscripts overall.
i would suggest taking the simpler heavy weapons, mortars, autocannons stubbers.
Ogryns (may i suggest Minotaurs, i have some in my blog) with scrapmetal armour.

I think we'll need more to go on. What's currently appealing to you? What are the options?
Sounds to me like you've started a Renegade PDF army, but I am probably biased because my dudespeople are (an unwittingly) Renegade PDF.

Back in the dawn of 40k I used to love those abhuman beastmen imperial guard. Really cool concept and pretty sweet models, for the 80s.
I'd go for a "catachan" mob army composed of ab-beastmen. A converted borg-beastie to stand in for Straken. Priests too (bestial shamans). The minotaur ogryns, would be impressive on the board as well.
Sides that, youre still going to need to blow up the opposing tanks/heavies (no matter how fluffy its still got to fight)... so tanks, Basilisks and Russ's?

Hey Guys! thanks so much for all the replies!
A quick apology... I done F'd myself in the B... I thought the blackstone fortress beastmen were closer in scale to the traitor guardsmen like their sigmar counterparts *facepalm*… so I'll be swapping brayherd heads in to stick with my theme... but until then; can I get your thoughts on my list?

Edit: Yeah I know company commanders are ace; but points are tight in this escalation league of sorts i'm joining... later i'll get orders for troops and reach for the special weapons! plasmas and metas i'd imagine, but maybe a few flamers as I know the harlequins player is gonna want to make a point of harassing me with his clown elves...
