I wish they did this again, I was hoping to see some special characters in the CSM codex like Urkanthos, especially now that he has become a daemon prince, I don't collect BL but it would have been an awesome model for this release. We might see a model for him and others down the line, but anyone else wish GW would make data-entries for models that we can convert like the good old days. It'll most likely never happen as GW needs rules to sell models but they could do it if they give you one rule set and update it for the model if and when it finally comes and can just be considered beta-rules?

Blame Chapter House for this. No Model, No Rules.

No, blame GW for having an incompetent in charge of their IP department. Someone who knew what they were doing would've provided clear guidelines on how to display add-on parts without threatening GW's IP - not going to artists during the court case and asking them to sign the rights for artwork over to the company (see Gary Chalk, for example).

Not to mention their ridiculous attitude when it comes to third party parts that add on to kits. If it is fine for big companies - such as car manufacturers - it should've been fine for them.

This is, emphatically, why I will continue suggesting nuking Guard and starting over again. It's a legacy army that needs to be rebooted with a new focal point.

Confirmation of why no-one should listen to Kanluwen when it comes to the IG - he doesn't want the IG, he want's Kan's New Model Army...

I'd argue the no-model-no-rules is the worst decision they've made in their history. I'm already an 8th ed. gamer who sticks to older miniatures, but this, coupled with the price hikes all but guarantee I won't be continuing forward with new armies in 40K. That being said, my small group already lets wargear changes slide - i.e. "Want to put a plasma pistol and power axe on your Primaris Lieutenant? Go for it, just pay the points.", etc.

The new Dark Apostle for Chaos is a good example. It used to be a quasi-Chaplain. Apparently (according to my buddy who was making an army to play against me yesterday) the new datasheet no longer has weapon options outside of what is modeled...so no more alternate pistols, combi-weapons, etc. It's gone, just a maul and bolt pistol, etc. That kind of stuff is just sealing the deal that I won't be a future consumer of GW goods.

If that were actually the reason for the policy, the Index legacy options wouldn't exist, and Forgeworld wouldn't have continued on releasing rules without models.

Lol at blaming Chapter House for something entirely caused, cemented and further decided upon by GW.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

Nah, blame GW for not wanting to work with bits people to do what they can't/won't and instead of trying to sic their legal on everyone and anyone.

Chapterhouse is a martyr here; they took the bullet and died to show that GW can't stop third party bits sellers and that you are legally allowed to make compatible bits with their product.

GW is also losing sales from people who would just pick up other kits for parts to mix, rather than going to 3rd party sellers.

No model, no rules is my biggest irritation with GW these days. Customization and kit bashing is one of the core pillars upon which this hobby was built. It shackles the hobbiest. It also makes for some bad fluff restrictions. Why do intercessor sergeants get powerfist/chainsword/powersword options, but hellblaster sergeants don’t? But the hellblaster can upgrade his sidearm to a plasma pistol. And the only way a primaris captain can get a plasma pistol is if he pairs it with a powerfist. But nobody can take a power axe or maul.

It’s an intrusion of real world business practice into the hobby, and jars my sense of immersion.

I don’t blame CH for what happened. They shined a light on an issue, and GW overreacted in the wrong direction. GW got called out on their bullying behavior, and cut their nose off in spite of their face.
