So I've been sucked in and have started another army, the Black Legion. I'm following the colour guide that can with Blackstone Fortress... Incubi Darkness over black, then Thunderhawk Blue for edges. I'm finding that the ID gives quite a drastic colour change from the black and the blue also sticks out rather than giving subtle lining. I'm wondering what others have used for their Black Legion, I know I can mix what I have but I'm trying to knock out the infantry asap snd save myself time for the characters.
Cheers.
Jon

It seems like a lot...but it really isn't.
It's also important to remember that the Incubi Darkness is meant to be applied more like a glaze/shade than it is an actual paint.
You'll struggle to paint Black Legion really quickly.
There's loads of trim to block out neatly and that takes time.
Best to spend a little more time on the easy bit of shading/highlighting that armor nicely.
Oli: Can I be an orc?
Everyone: No.
Oli: But it fits through the doors, Look!
A quick way of painting black legion armour, is to just undercoat and base coat black, get a medium drybrush, drybrush eshin grey, then drybrush more lightly Dawnstone. Then wash nuln oil. With a bit of practice it doesn't look too bad.
It depends what standard of finish you are after, if you are just after a good tabletop standard, the above will look fine with the rest of the colours/details painted over the top.
Personally the thought of spending a lot of time trying to edge highlight black armour doesn't appeal, plus it's very difficult, if you actually look at where GW highlight, it's not actually right on the edges of the armour either, but very slightly inset a little. No thanks.
