So I decided to be a little more detailed with my basing in regards to the steel legion army I am building. I already opted to use the Necromunda model bases for the units, but at this point I reach a dead-end in terms of what I else I could add to my bases to give it a more industrial feel. Since I've only ever done basic, well basing, I was hoping to get some suggestive feedback from the more experienced members of the Dakka community on what might be some nice additions.

if you want industrial looking bases, you can get plasticard that resembles the anti slip plating shown on the background of this website, that usually looks pretty good.

plastic tubes and piping, metal mesh, the kind they use on airsoft masks, bits of sprue.. its only limited by your imagination really.

You could look into bulk watch parts to use as random mechanical scatter.
As mentioned, plasticard is always useful. In addition to sheets and tubes, it also comes in architectural forms like I-beams and trusses.
Some other things you may want to look into are green stuff texture rollers and resin bases. I think Necromunda bases only come in 25 and 32mm, so if you’re planning fielding heavy weapons, Sentinels, aircraft, etc, you’ll need to find alternate basing options.

Don’t feel like you need to model everything either. Painted effects like weathering, chemical spills, hazard stripes, etc will go a long way toward adding atmosphere and variety.

I'm going to use 60 mm sector mechanicus bases for sentinels and HWT's
