Have the Deathwatch ever needed to do any kind of mass conscription of marines in a time of dire need?

I know with the introduction of Primaris that the Deathwatch took in a whole influx of Primaris marines, but I think that’s just convenient more than anything.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

This probably falls into the same convenience category, but the Achilus Crusade passed right through Watch Fortress Erioch's domain, leading to a pretty big recruitment from all the astartes chapters attached to the crusade fleet.

You know theres an interesting idea in this that couldn't the DW requisition a ton of marines? Granted chapters are not required to send their boys per say, but considering how honor bound they are I have a hard time seeing them say no if asked for a numerous marines. Throw in how many chapters would send boys and you could have a really swelled DW fortress.

Could be an interesting idea to have a watch master feel he needs more soldiers that he can do more with than their chapter can so he pushes recruitment. Throw in some inquisition suspicion and divide loyalties and you could have a tense narrative set up. Hmmm.....

You are starting to think in the same way I am. I’ve got an idea for a blood Angels successor that I could start in the future. The Deathwatch needs a lot of marines for some reason, so the chapter obliges. Do to being so short on marines, they are pretty much forced to say “screw any semblance of the Codex Astartes” and create their own hyper-unique “conclave/chamber” structure.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

A chapter would not put the deathwatch before themselves.

I think the DW are more of a small elite unit (think SAS) made up of volunteers/specialists. There wouldnt really be a situation where they needed to conscript a bunch of new guys.

The Inquisition could say otherwise, I imagine, or face sanctions.

One the one hand, the Space Wolves would say otherwise.

On the other, Celestial Lions.

Don’t you think it would be rather easy for an Inquisitor to pick on a new Primaris chapter master before the Indomitus Crusade?

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

Oh please, Space Wolves have the worst single amount of plot armor in the history of 40k fluff
