So the bringers of despair detatchment let's you reroll hit rolls (shooting and combat) for terminators near a chaos lord. The way it's worded it's like cawl in that you can reroll hits after modifiers essentially.

3 units of 10 is 30 terminators with storm bolters. 4 shots each that's 120 strength 4 hits rerolling all misses. You can prescience 1 unit and add 1 to hit rolls with an apostle on another unit.

You can make one unit slaanesh and shoot it twice while using veterans of the long war, wounding knights on 5s with 80 shots.

IF you have the psykers on the board you can make a nurgle unit -1 to hit, a tzeentch unit 4++ and a slaanesh unit have a 5+++. Making them alpha legion gives a further -1 to hit if shot at from more than 12"

Sounds cool to me, I intend on doing something simar but on a smaller scale. Plan on fielding a black legion force with a battalion sitting back with 2 small CSM squads and a blob of cultists back up by a dark apostle and sorcerer the main part of the formation will be some havoc's and oblits. Then I will have Bringers of depair vanguard detachment with Abby and all the terminators I can afford!

Yeah abaddon let's you reroll all hit rolls now too so he effectively does the same thing. If you're going just one unit I'd go slaanesh and drop votlw on them for 80 shots rerolling all hits and +1 to wound rolls

Except the rulebook FAQ says re-rolls before modifiers. So you wouldnt be able to re-roll after them.

Not an issue, abaddon let's you re-roll hit rolls, aka you get to decide what to re-roll and can thus account for modifiers.
They changed the wording.

Really considering this, Abaddon and 30 terminators with chainaxe and combi bolter is only 1100 or so points, would ideally want a dark apostle with them though. Could happily do the 30 termies and Abaddon plus a few characters then have another detachment for holding objectives and sitting at the back, would need some anti vehicle ability though so maybe some havoc's etc.

You probably can't deep strike the whole lot in. Its more than half your army already. And a smart opponent wouldn't leave you enough space to drop in Abby and 30 terminators, unless its in your own deployment zone. Unless you want to foot slog them up.

Thanks to Beta Bolter rule, range isn't as important. You only need to be within 24 to get that firepower off. I don't think slogging it is that bad.

I just got my first new kit of terminators. And wow. This is going to be a delight to build and paint. Unfortunate about the chain axes. Im going to try and convert the chainfist using old axe bits into another chainaxe. Will report back with my findings....

Im going to atleast get one more box of these bad boys. Maybe a third to have a 5 man plasma deepstriking squad. Plasma conversions look like they will be fairly easy.

I find using a terminator chaos lord with the warlord trait does with abaddon does anyway if you really want to reduced points and power level. The other thing is taking 20 terminators is pretty sufficent. In terms of taking out knights the key weakness is not being able to reroll wounds as there is nothing the chaos codex that allows you to do this for shooting attacks on infantry. In terms of adding antivehicle I would actually recommend doing plaguebearer spam. With the character buffs they are pretty decent at taking out knights and if they get hit by something like a thermal cannon only one bearer is removed regardless of the damage. Having all infantry is pretty powerful in today's game, essentially handing you recon in ITC games and board control in maelstrom.

If you want traditional vehicle killing then running three maulerfiend/forgefiend/decimator engine or a lord of skulls next to an apostle and a malefic sorcerer to give them all a 4++ with rerolls of 1 to hit and wound. That much fire power/close combat power can do a lot against vehicles
