Hey all,

I have not played many 8th ed games, and i'm in the process of building and prepping a 1k pts list.

My question is how often do you run into a Super heavy, Monster, Knight etc in a 1k pts list? Is it even a thing? Could it be a thing?, or would you be TFG if you brought one?

1K points isn't a ton to play with so cramming Knights and such can be difficult.

Now how often do I? Considering my meta is flavor of the month I run into Knights at every single point level.

Just the other month we had a friendly doubles tournament and my partner and I ran into 3 Knights + guard CP spam.

It's really all dependent on your meta.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

The Meta down here in New Zealand is Semi Comp. the crew at the FLGS have warned me about a competitive guard player, (In the group) so I am expecting to see knights in his lists, but last I was in, there was a guy playing his dad, Death guard vs his dads mechanized Orks, they were playing 1500pts i believe and he had Morty, which is what got me thinking.

What army do you play?

I haven't seen Morty or Magnus in a long time, but last time I played Morty I killed him in two turns. (10 lascannons to the face for two turns will do that.)

Its not even uncommon to face a knight in 500pts skirmishes in my club. This means game over as the other player usually have too little anti tank to fight.

Brutal, but kunning!

Might be worth suggesting some small game house rules, knights in 500pts just means game over if they go first.

40,000pts
8,000pts
3,000pts
3,000pts
6,000pts
2,000pts
1,000pts

Fundamentally the knight at 500 points actually tends to be solo.
If your playing who lives longest wins, yeah it's probably going to the the knight more often than not.

But if your actually playing a mission with objectives and scoring that solo knight should be struggling to compete against a semi competent player.

One of the reasons people keep bitching that knights are OP is because they just play sudden death rules not actual missions with scoring.

Yup... use ITC rules for ruins blocking line of sight on the first level, and a single Knight is gonna struggle hard against an infantry force.

Knights at low level are bit of hit or miss. Some armies they will munch through easily, others like the 800 pts orks i came up when local player was thinking would seem to be tough one to beat. At range dealing hefty damage, plenty of bodies and when you get close model that averages questor class dead is waiting.

Game result will be even more clear from army lists

Pure knights at all levels are hit and miss, they only go tournament grade with screening and CP.

Good luck fitting those when single knight costs over half the points. If not like 80%. Loyal 32 + say crusader. Can you fit that to 500 pts?

Depends entirely on your meta and what super-heavy.

Here, if you brought a Macharius Battle Tank or Valdor Tank Hunter at 1000 pts no one here would bat an eyelid. On the contrary, you might even get a nod of approval.

If you brought a Castellan however, you would instantly be branded a TFG.

Well, I'd consider the cheapest IK. It should have enough capabilities to defeat every unit in cc at the 1000 pt level.
For the rest, take MSU for objective holding and fire support.
