I have a Daemons of Khorne force, (Bloodletters, Bloodcrushers, Hounds, etc) and I want to have a few CSM units in my army, but I don’t know what legion to pick. (I already have a Master of Possession.) Which legion will work best with them? World Eaters or Word Bearers?
Food for thought:
World Eaters:
-Butchers Nails Rule makes World Eater Chaos Space Marines get an extra attack when they make a successful charge roll. This would work well with Khorne Daemon units with the Locus of Wrath rule: a rule that gives units within 6” a reroll for failed charges. Could make CSMs real deadly.
-Legion of Skulls is a Chaos Daemon stratagem that gives stratagems to Bloodletters like +2 to charge rolls for friendly <LEGION OF SKULLS> daemons if they charge a unit. This would work well with a CSM with the World Eater warlord trait Bloodblessed. (Warlord gets +1 attack by default, and then gains another when within 6" of an opposed character.)(Note that the Legiom of Skulls can also be used with Word Bearers, but Bloodblessed can’t.)
Word Bearers:
-Voice of Lorgar: Increases aura ranges by 3”. Great for my Master of Possesion to add more buffs to Bloodletters without getting to close to enemies.
-Dark Pact: Dark Pact is used when a WORD BEARER CHARACTER attempts to summon a unit of DAEMONS to the battlefield using a daemonic ritual. You can re-roll any of the dice used in the summoning roll, and your character will not suffer any mortal wounds for rolling doubles or triples. Helps summoning ALOT with my Master of Possesion. Add this with the MAP’s power Incursion, (Acts like Daemonic Ritual, but you roll 4 dice instead of 3 and don't risk mortal wounds from rolling doubles or triples.) and you can pretty much summon most of the time, AND have no backfire.
So it seems Word Bearers helps summoning hordes easier, but World Eaters make my blobs of daemons way more killy. Which one?
Edit: Also, World Eaters units are buffed for close range combat, which fits in with Bloodletters, which are only close range.)
