Well, chapter approaved is getting closer and i would love to see the new ork buggies as a viable alternative in every ork army. I do not believe every model has to be WAAC optimal, but their current state is rather lacking. I am also a big fan of the models and its saddens me to not be able to properly use them, especially the squig buggy . For this reason, I believe it would be interesting to determine a list of possible improvements that could make these models viable:

Some buggies like the scrapjet may only need a slight points reduction, while others like the squig buggy need both the point reduction and a rules change.

- Megatrakk scrapjet. It is probably the one that needs less change. In my opinion all buggies except the squig buggie should look at the megatrakk for inspiration. While not beeing ultra-competitive it is an offensive hybrid model that is both useful in shoooting and combat. With a small point reduction like 5-10pts it could be good to go.

- Boomdakka snazzwagon. This model needs spiked ram to make sense. In addition a slight point reduction (10-15pt ?) is probably needed. Without spiked ram, a higher point reduction would be needed (15-20pt ?).

- Kustom boosta blasta. Similar to the boomdakka, a point reduction of (10-15pt ?) would make it interesting.

- Shokkjump dragsta. Another interesting model, probably only needs a slight point reduction (10pt ?).

- Rukkatrukk Squig buggy. This one is the big problem. In my mind, the squig buggy should be a support vehicle, it could maybe replace the painboy on bike and offer a 6+++ for infantry and bikes, combined with an equivalent stratagem of the painboy ("medic squig", 1CP). This way it would be the jack of all trades that it intends to be. It could also use a slight point reduction because of its lack of character rules. It is also quite fluffy-cool, a buggie that throws healing squigs to other orks while going full speed. An alternative to the 6+++ (to avoid overlapping with the Snakebites kultur), would be to give them some kind of offensive/defensive or simply healing (no stratagem needed and could be extended to buggies for example).

Finally an small change to make them a bit more survivable while also being quite fluffy could be a "grot riggers" equivalent. For 3pts let them repair a wound or make it free and do it on a 4+.

What do you think? What would you change? I am by no means an expert and my proposal of point changes may be off, but these are some ideas that occurred to me after testing them out in some local games. My intend is to send an email to GW with a detailed list and hope they make some interesting changes to these awesome models, making a speedwaagh army more viable.

I think a points decrease on most of them is the general consensus. Although some of the weapons also need reworked as other options do their job better. looking at you squigbuggy.

I agree with you about most points you made.

New buggies need to be in the 75-90pts range to be competitive (scrapjet&draggsta in the expensive side).

Squig buggy does not work with current approach as I fail to see how physically shooted squigs can be dangerous in the amount that the buggy looks like it could output them.

Medic could be an option. Still for me, it's a model out of place in the battlefield. A failed concept.
