I'm lacking a lot of vital knowledge since I don't have the core rules. They could be great or total gak i don't know. I've looked at some DW KT tactics and lists and haven't came across storm shields that much. Not sure how my KT will be rocking, I definitely want it to have at least one in it since my DW champion is modelled this way.

I'm off to my local GW's gaming night on Friday for the first time to learn how to play KT. I've still got 4 veterans left to build and I'm proper bummed for how to equip them. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Cheers.

They give you an invulnerable save but are fairly expensive.

They give melee guys a better shot of getting into melee so shield and power weapon is the standard for melee guys.

Seconded. Still, it can give you an edge against melee armies, usually Orks. Against 'nids, 3+ armor is good enough against swarm tactics; only if your opponent brings Lictors or other big figures will you need the INV.

The entirety of my Campaign Roster has 5 out of the 18 models with Storm Shields. I've never brought more than 2 to a match, but the variety of specialists is nice.

Works out to a smaller Watch Company for campaign purposes, they just left their silly Fortis Brothers back home
