Hi everyone, I’ve popped into the forum from time to time and read some posts but only recently made an account so I can join the conversation.

I played 40k 2nd and 3rd edition and dabbled in 4th but have been out of the hobby since then until about a years or so ago when I got into 8th. I don’t play a whole lot, so often still confuse the current rules with old ideas I still remember from older editions.

I’ve got a question about the forum though, hopefully this is the right place to ask!!

Is there a key for the symbols on the left of each thread? What do the gold or silver bullet mean and when they have a red asterisk? The locked thread icon is fairly self explanatory, but I’m a little confused about the rest!

Thanks!!

The “Nuts and Bolts” section is a good place to ask about the workings of the site, but as you’re new it works in the introductions section too.

Depending on the background you choose, you get slightly different icons. To the best of my understanding, different icons indicate how “busy” a thread is. I wouldn’t know the metric, but may have to do with how many posts in a day are going on, something like that maybe.

Welcome to Dakka.

Hi Aash,

Welcome to dakka! I had the same query and found this answer:

Though I’m not sure what constitutes a “hot” thread

Hi!
When you're looking at one of the boards, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, there's a 'key' to the various icons on the left-hand side. Happy browsing!

Thanks Gobert, that's exactly what I was looking for!
