Subject: Thousand sons, perils, and new FAQ

I'm a bit confused about how the latest thousand sons FAQ applies specifically to Rubric/Terminator squads. See below:
Q: How should Perils of the Warp be resolved against units led
by an Aspiring Sorcerer or Scarab Occult Sorcerer?
A: Any mortal wounds suffered are applied to Sorcerer’s
unit, so can be applied to another model if you wish (if
a model in that unit has already suffered any wounds, it
must still be applied to this model first).
So, the way it worked before, pre FAQ, to my knowledge was this, for example a rubric marine squad.
1) You suffer perils of the warp.
2) You suffer D3 mortal wounds.
3) The aspiring sorcerer dies.
4) The spell fails because the psyker died.
5) Because the psyker died as a result of perils, all units within 6" take D3 mortal wounds.
So, if you perils, a rubric squad takes 2D3 mortal wounds in addition to losing the sorcerer and the spell failing.
Now, is it:
1) Unit suffers perils of the warp.
2) Unit suffers D3 mortal wounds which can be applied to non-aspiring sorcerer models. Unless the unit is nearly dead, the sorcerer should live.
3) If you rolled double 6s, the spell succeeds.
Because if so, that's a hell of a buff. And, presumably, you only blow up if the perils manages to kill the aspiring sorcerer, who you will likely save until last.

You only blow up if the last model does from perils. Sorcerer or no sorcerer is irrelevant. It is not a huge buff, it's a sanity check (your weakest psyker should not be able to cause a bigger magical backlash than your stronger ones).

Yes, that is correct. It's a pretty significant buff.

Sorry to bring up an old post (I know, necro and all..), but somehow I cannot find the official writing on this. Been looking thru the FAQ, but I seem to be blind. Anyone could link me the official writing, and please highlight the wording, or I might miss it again.
Thanks..

It's in the Thousand Sons FAQ. Here is the text:
Q: How should Perils of the Warp be resolved against units led

A: Any mortal wounds suffered are applied to Sorcerer’s
unit, so can be applied to another model if you wish (if

Thanks! Somehow my phone kept downloading an older FAQ, without the peril note. Worked like a charm on my PC.

Your phone probably has the old version of the file saved and so is opening the saved version instead of downloading a new version - it's assuming it's the same file.
If it's not asking to download it (mine does each time, on Android), you may need to manually find and delete the old version.
