I was thinking of using the as cannon fodder. Like the tou or the tyranid. But is that a good use of them? What would be the best use of a fenrisian wolf heavy army tactic wise for 8th edition?

If Wolves can get the Space Wolves Chapter Tactics, they might be slightly viable, unfortunately at the monent, they can just be your "smite screen" and/or Detachment tax.

They suck.
They're a specialist unit.
They cost 8ppm.
They can't shoot.
They can't expect to charge before turn two nor do they have access to any kind of reserves ability.
They top out at 15 models per unit so they can't really swarm.
They struggle to hurt anything over T4.
They die easily.
If they were troops or cheaper or faster or topped out at 30 models or had access to any kind of reserves ability they'd be worth taking.
Nid swarms are cheaper, top out at 30 models, have access to reserves abilities, a synapse babysitter makes them immune to morale and they're troops.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go. |

I feel fen wolves bring an important role to the army considering sw character focus. I say try em out. Also last I checked they were 6 ppm which is not that far off an ork boy.
Edit- dammit they are 8 ppm. My bad that changes my perspective on them a bit.

Last edition they were pretty cheap but bark, bark star was a thing.

Ya at 8 ppm they are still appealing for certain less competitive lists, but not so much considering AM exists.
Still though I've seen them be effective in more pure lists as a more aggressive oriented screens and HI delivery. They do have just enough combat presence to attract attention.
Anyway I'm no longer a SW player but I'd love to see fen wolves drop to 6 ppm where I believe they might at least be semi competitive. And/or gain some further synergy with the faction.
