Using the black and ashtabi bone color scheme for Ulthwe (typical one although I did most of the armor plates in the bone). Looking for color ideas for bases. Basic black can tend to dissappear into bases so I need a contrast. Right now looking at the sand covered base dry brushed with either a light blue/grey or a Mars style deep red. Any ides on a good low key contrast to the basic black and bone?

Edit: my pop color for the gems etc is violet.

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

Your models should have contrasting bases, to allow the viewer to clearly see the model standing on the base, rather than be swallowed by it.

The base and model can be differentiated by several factors:
- Colour (warm/cold)
- shiny/dull,
- fuzzy/smooth (e.g. sand/staticgrass, vs armour plates).

If the majority of the model is bone coloured, and that means more beige than white, it's warm. So a grey/blue base would work. If the model is more white than beige.you should consider a warm colour for your base.

Good information Stephanious. Thanks. My paint scheme is probably half black and half bone. Going to test a grey blue drybrush over sand.
