I was thinking of converting 2 XV8 Crisis Battlesuits to VX88 Broadsides and was wondering if anyone else has done this before and if so how it played out from a rules stand point. Would they be legal? I would convert them with the Rail Rifle that comes with the current broadside to make them cohesive.

I know there is a height difference and base size, but was thinking of putting them on the correct size base and maybe on something like rocks or some sort of platform to obtain the proper height.

Where does the legality come into play tournament wise? Just trying to gauge if its worth it.

Well judging from the fact that broadsides used to be modeled based on the XV8 chassis, I don't think this would cause that big of an issue, but as always, defer to your TO.

But if I may ask... WHYYYYYY??? The new broadsides look so much better? What don't you like about it?

I agree and thats what I was thinking but have seen people argue against it in the past. As for the reason for converting; I half 2 extra XV8s un-built in my possession and I do have a new XV88 and they are AMAZING looking I agree. I was just thinking to flush out a squad and save ~$100 I could use what I already have either by casting the gun/s or buying the bitz. It would also just be a fun project I think.

This is the old Broadside model, which would still be totally legal for play.

Also, there are no game rules for modelling or base sizes. It's all down to common sense and any event rules that might be in effect.

All things considered, this shouldn't a problem at all.

As said, depends on your TO.

All my Broadsides are the old models, still on their bases etc. Never had problems but don't really play in tournaments.

GW was really dumb to buff up the size of the Broadside model so much whilst keeping the XV88 name, since the XV8 in XV88 indicates it is based on the Crisis chassis (hence all the old Forgeworld Crisis variants being XV81, XV84 etc.).

I think the old Forgeworld XV88-2 was the best Broadside model:

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.

Buy the old style broadsides on ebay... they are cheap! Like $15 each.

(I'm converting a few to missile sides, haven't decided if I need to burn up 6 or 8 missile pods per model, gonna run out no matter how I look at it)
