That was, especially in retrospect, far more interesting than all those 'mysteries' they kept throwing at us, especially as those mysteries ended up having weak or no payoff.
Unfortunately after 2 seasons they had shot their bolt and kept the series limping in meandering pace intermixed with moments where Fonzie jumped over ever bigger shark tanks.
As for rest of Lindelof's writing credits, ugh. I wouldn't want to be associated with any of them. I really really hated 'Prometheus', it was like a parody of a parody with each and every crappy scifi-cliche thrown in. And 'Into Darkness' is the worst Trek movie ever made. And boy, that is highly competive arena.
It doesnt matter. Lost at its core is a show written by lindeloff to present and set up a bunch of mysteries they never had answers to. It makes everything LOOK clever and like its going some place but ultimately you just get frustrated because there is no pay off. Lindeloff is the best around at writing a gripping intoduction and NOTHING else. He falls flat on his face the moment it requires any substance.
