I'll probably find this is covered in the rules if i trawl through them but i would like an answer here if possible.

For years i've used my Rhinos as being able to have 2 guys firing from the top hatch. No more can fire.

But if the Rhino has the top hatch, 2 side hatches and the rear ramp shouldn't you be able to fire all the embarked squad's weapons from out each hatch? Splitting fire etc.

Just a thought

No fire points for Rhinos any more.
No fire points for anyone really, making Open-Topped that much better.

Eldar skimmers have had this for many versions, so everyone can feel our pain now.

If you and your people agree to use old version rules for existing units, go for it though.

The reason you've done that "for years" is because the rules allowed it. The rules no longer allow it.

In previous editions Rhinos allowed for two passengers to fire from inside the transport.
The top hatch was designed for that, while the others are doors and I'd say a vehicle can't drive properly when the doors are open.

In the current edition rhinos lost the top hatch, as did most other vehicles with similar abilities.

They do not. Instead they have guns that can only be fired while models are embarked.

Wouldn't a open topped vehicle count as fire points? All the units inside a stormlord can fire out, but can't be fired upon.

What are all of the vehicles in 8th that allow units to fire out? There's not many:
Ork Trukk
Ork Chinork
DE Raider
SoB Repressor
IG Stormlord

What else?

Several other IG super heavies have firing decks too.

The Chimera got the Lasgun arrays to make up for the lack of fire points.

Rhinos should get their 2 firepoints back. #makerhinosgreatagain

Land Speeder Storm is the SM drive-by vehicle of choice.

Vehicles are in a weird spot in this edition. They have no protection of any kind against AP, they have no access to Invulnerable saves (most of em). No more fire points on some cars, while others did get them.

It seems really random in the design, and I am one of those people in the camp that says "Unless you're a knight, or eldar" vehicles are dead. Not one SM, CSM, player in my area runs anything but foot soldiers and Guilliman.

I see Predators a fair bit actually.

And Russes have their place too. Not in soup so much, but for anyone running mono guard they pull their weight.

Agreed. I am mostly referring to transports.

Oh sure, yeah agreed then. Transport capacity seems to have been overpriced this edition.

No, inferior is almost every way to a contemptor (mortis) dreadnought. SM tanks are pretty much useless.

Sure, if we're talking some abstract min-max situation. You can almost get 2 predators for the IRL cost of a Contemptor Mortis though. Which is why I see plenty of them.

Also, Killshot it pretty good.

Also, they don't look like Contemptor dreadnoughts.

I have been using Predators since the start of the edition. I don't play tournaments, but I've played people that wanted to train for tournaments, and I was still able to do well. They're no Vindicators.
