So this is a fairly specific question for my army. Currently my paint scheme combine elements on Saim-Hann (red & the cosmic serpent) Alaitoc (yellow helm) and Kabal of the black heart (black with greenish edging).
I recently got a box of Guardians with which some models will be converted to Rangers, other support platform gunners and the rest Guardians/Dire Avengers.
For reference, here are some of my current models:
Rangers
Platform gunners:
Guardian/Avengers:
So first of all, I am contemplating repainting the red on my Rangers to be Alaitoc blue, or greenish blue. Even when I play these as Saim-Hann, it isn't outside the fluff for them to be Alaitoc outcasts that joined the army (as is my fluff for my entire force: Mostly Saim-hann corsairs with Alaitoc outcasts).
So with the models I am building now, should I paint them in the Red, dark green & Yellow like my Guardians, or Blue with Yellow helms to fill out my Dire Avenger units (of which I just have 2 Exarch in the
DA scheme) and also give more visual queue when I play my army as Alaitoc
I personally voted for the Red scheme since the scheme with Blue would "lock" them into being Avengers or Alaitoc. While that wouldn't be a bad thing, I like to have variety and be able to mix them into units as needed.
My Avengers are represented by the unit having a "correctly" colored Exarch in the unit. My Rangers are represented by having Cloaks and Snipers in the units and my Guardians are represented by having the Platform and gunners.
The "joes" of the unit have typically been the models with Scourge heads and
OOP splinter rifle barrels.
