Good day, this is my first attempt at a Deathwatch list. Got a bit excited and started putting models together then realised that I should write a list first. I have done some research and read a lot of tactical and others armies on here. So give me as much info as you can, I would like a competitive list that allows me to expand a bit later, or even add some ad mech allies. I have call and am itching to use him. I have played 40k since 3rd but life hasn’t allowed me to play since 8th drooped and looking to jump back in, so some explanation may be required from you helpful people

I’d drop the fist from the biker sarge and add a few more storm shields. Solid list

I would also switch the Storm Bolter on the captain. For a storm shield. Pretty good though

Ok storm shield makes sense, but on a character with a 4++ would it be worth it over a Storm Bolter with SIA?
What do people think of the phase sword over another power weapon?
I was thinking of dropping the bikers for a dread for lascanons?

Just bumping to get the above questions answered.

Those vet squads look to be very expensive, maybe trim a little to make it cheaper.

For example, my standard KT is

Sgt Xeno/SB
4x SB/SS
1 Frag cannon
2 terminators w SB and power maul
vanguard vet with 2 bolt pistols

That's 223points and still could fill the squad with one more body. many will say drop the frag completely but I still like the weapon. I'd probably go more SB/SS but I'm almost maxed out already and still need to buy more. The main thing though is to make that terminator cheaper, and try to get 2 of them in there. If you are going to have a close combat weapon, put it on the sgt who has 3 attacks.

Feels like if those intercession go down, there is practically nothing to deal with armor.

I also have trouble understanding the purpose of a drag cannon. The weapon itself is more expensive than a new deathwatch member. You could go with SS/SB in its place.

The math on that is that it averages 6 hits at S6 ap1. In the place of a vet with frag cannons you can have two vets.

This gives you 8 shots at 12” with infinite strength against non be vehicles or -2ap. This also doubles your wounds for the points and gives you another invulnerable save and won’t be useless at most ranges/will overwatch better. .

Personally, I would chop out all the Frag Cannons, power weapons and aggressors.

From there, go with two options with the extra points. Get another hellblaster, go all SS/SB, no bike and apothecary and do double Contemptor Mortis Dreadnoughts with twin lascannons for 8 lascannons shots per turn with a 2+ hit reroll and 2+ would reroll on t4 units and great for murdering vehicles or monstrous t8 guys.

Another option is to spread out your squads and give yourself a lot more CP. the AT is really spread out so that no one can just target a single squad. If you want to concentrate the plasma guns more to make better use of CP just move them around. An added bonus is that plasma gun vets can carry a chainsword so that’s an extra hit in CC. You also have two librarians which will focus on fortress in order to deny mortal wounds as well as null zone, smite and laser beam. Gives you two deny chances as well. You get 24 plasma shots with this build, kinda like having 12 hell blasters.
