I've got a Necron army I inherited and I want to start getting it painted, but I'm not exactly looking to put a lot of work in to it. I have been trying to find a good metallic black spray to use for the primer and base coat. I've tried a couple hobby paints for model cars and such, but found them to be ridiculously hydrophobic.

I known Krylon has a couple different ones, but I suspect they'll have the same issue.

Has anyone tried/found one of a similar nature? I can't be the first person to have this idea...

Both citadel and army painter have decent metallic sprays.

Then just grab a big brush and drown them in black wash

Edit: and of course they have black primers that are good too. Vallejo also has that.

The metallic spray sometimes say it's a primer and base coat in one can, bit I still put ok the black primer first before the metallic.

I recently built and painted 40 Necron warriors much the same way, stuck them on a piece of plank with bluetac, them swept over with black, then metallic, then a big brush and bathed them in wash, then detailing them basing them done.

Helping my son with painting his Necrons. They're already looking pretty awesome after just a prime with Vallejo gloss black and then a zenithal spray of leadbelcher.
