Trying out a demonkin style list with a hammer and anvil style. The disco lords are the stars of the list as they can advance and charge as red corsairs and the contorted epitome keeps up for more shennanigans like no fall back. The venomcrawlers support in firepower and CC for the middle. Skullreaver prince either stays back or charges in with the disco lords. Bloodletters bomb where needed. Plaugebearers and CSMs hold the middle and backfield. Tons of CP. Let me know what you think I can improve upon.

Is the CP from Red Corsairs worth more than going Alpha Legion and having a -1 to hit for all models in the group?

Autocannons on the Lord Discordant are not nearly as good as the baleflamer

I think the contorted epitome is an overpriced sorcerer, I might replace it with a demon prince and use the saved points to upgrade a lord discordant.

Or rip your list apart a bit and make a 3rd detachment.... and squeeze in a slaneesh sorcerer....

I can see the pros and cons of both AL and red cosairs for the soulforged pack. Extra CP and advance and charge isn't bad on the Lord Discordants.

I'm not sure the contorted epitome is the best fit for the list. It is expensive and although symphony of pain is good you could just have a herald on steed for 82 points!

LDs should always be run with Autocannon imo. They'll be target number one and if you're in combat (as they should be) not shooting at all.

With the 133 points you can bulk up one of those csm squads to 10 with 2 reaper chaincannons and give them a rhino to keep them safer t1. Allowing you to put out some serious dakka with endless Cacophony.

Thank you both for the comments. I forgot to note in the OP this is for a local but competitive tournament. I've wavered on AL versus red corsairs several drafts of this list as both carry advantages. If a persuasive argument can be brought for one versus the other I'm all ears.

As small_gods stated, autocannons are the preferred choice for both purpose and point cost. I put one baleflamer to make the warlord feel a bit more special but not attached.

Ah the contorted epitome, this was a teched choice and can hear both your arguments against. My thinking was needing something that kept up with the disco lords (with soulforge detachment those suckers are moving 14" a turn). The contorted epitome fit that bill and has a fun gimmick of preventing fallback. As suggested, I'm thinking just a herald on a steed might be best but it covers so many needs.

What about running
3 Lord Discordants
3 Defilers
3 Venom Creepers
6x10 cultists
2 demon prince with wings
1 jump pack lord wth blade of hydra

All Alpha Legion :p

The only thing that can't keep up is the cultists, but they are only good for holding objectives while the rest of the army moves crazy fast forward.

I think that it's a close call but you are running a CP heavy list, whilst AL have a useful strat and their legion trait helps against alpha strikes. It'll be less useful as time goes on and hopefully your LDs are in close combat. That extra 3CP is useful and advance and charge is great for getting more of your units in combat quicker.

I think you could drop you poxbringer and contorted epitome for a herald on seeker chariot. That would leave you with 180 points and you could take some more marines or even a dakka helbrutes/fw dreadnought. That would again draw fire from your soulforged units and gives you more options against things like flyers or well screened targets. The double cbeam contemptor is great in this role.
