Hey guys,

I've been playing Nurgle daemons and deathguard for a quite a bit. Now I am hoping to shift slightly and focus strictly on Daemons. I am hoping to get your opinions on the various units. What do you prefer in your Daemon soup? What are the must-haves? What units/tactics have you found to be better than others?

Thanks

I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you

Generally speaking it's almost always best to go for Troops and HQs in a pure daemon codex imo.

Changecaster and Horrors for clearing screen. I prefer to put 20-40 in deepstrike with a fateskimmer on the board. Drop down unload 60 s4 shots per unit of 20 with +1 wound if you get flickering flames off.

Bloodletter bombs of 20 are the best imo. 1 CP to deepstrike, 1CP for banner. Any less and you are in danger of loosing too many to overwatch and more cost 2CP and you generally don't get them all into combat because of the 32mm bases.

Daemon princes are generally best as Khorne, two talons or either the sword or axe relic are great.

Slanesh Fiends are great for tying down big shooting units, the new daemon prince is nasty and the forbidden gem relic is awesome.

Finally you can add in exhalted flamers. They have some decent shooting and are characters you can hide behind your plaguebearers screen.

As soon as you go multi god, start to think less about friendly buffs and more about de-buffs - so my must-have units are a poxbringer with shrivelling pox and herald of slaanesh with symphony of pain and/or the forbidden gem; these guys can still do the traditional mono-god aura buffs but also reach out and indirectly help alternatively aligned units.
