Has anybody used this unit in games? is he really worth his high points cost. Also what model do you use for him? do you really have to buy the forge world bloodthirstier or would a regular bloodthirstier be ok?

also Creature caster has some good daemon models but would they be too small.

Never played with or against him. He was bad before they nerfed him and he is absolute trash now. Take a Kytan instead.

If you want to make him work I think Fiends of Slaanesh might be able to make it work, his main weakness is getting shot off the table. Another thing to note is that in a super heavy auxiliary detachment he does not get a locus.

Chaos Daemons of Nurgle Battalion Detachment w. Locus of Nurgle: Spoilpox Scrivener, Daemon Prince of Nurgle, 2x30 Plaguebearers w. icons and instruments, 3 Nurglings.

Chaos Daemons Battalion Detachment without Locus: Poxbringer, Sloppity Bilepiper, 3x3 Nurglings, 2x3 Fiends of Slaanesh.

Chaos Daemons Super Heavy Auxiliary Detachment w. Locus of Khorne: Anngrath the Unbound (WL: Oblivious to Pain)

I'm not sure what exactly the list comes out to, but it's somewhere between 1500 and 2500 pts. You should be able to make it fit with minor adjustments.

Deep strike Anngrath and the Fiends against shooty lists, deploy Anngrath on the field if your opponent has no anti-large shooting and deploy the Fiends on the table if your opponent has absolutely no shooting.

Take objectives with the Nurgle units and use them to tie up enemy units. Charge in with Anngrath first, then the Fiends. Use your pile-in and consolidation moves to lock an enemy unit without FLY in combat with a unit of Fiends and Anngrath so he can survive until your next turn.

Anngrath is good at killing Knights, but a unit of 30 Bloodletters and a Herald in a Patrol Detachment are more cost-effective in almost all cases.
