Does anyone have any advice for what bases or base designs look really great with Custodes?

Thanks to anyone's advice!

Personally i like black marble church or temple bases for the golden boys.

I cant imagine a custode hanging out in a field or a waste land for some reason.

Are those pre-made or your own design? I love the idea of marble, but I may not be at that painting level yet....

Well i like seeing them on marble bases i dont have custodes yet.

Most people that do marble do it by glazing with tinned down paints.

i dont think its the hardest thing but if its too much you could possibly do a dark grey, wash it down black, then gloss varnish it.

you can make the tiles with plasticard or im sure some one has made 3rd party tile bases.

Here is one I have done for my WIP Custodes. It is quite close in, but it gives you a good idea of the effect I was going for, which is the deepest darkest basement of old Terra. Deep in the Imperial dungeon where the most dangerous creatures are held, the floor is old rough stone paced by grim faced wardens.

It was fairly easy to achieve. Milliput rolled out and put on the base, a decent sized stone was pushed gently in to get the rough imprints then the tiles themselves were just marked out with a sharp modelling knife. Paint/wash and drybrush to your chosen colour.

Things to bear in mind, the more you push the stone in, the rougher the surface. If you want to keep it pretty smooth you can be very gentle to get a very light effect.
