Im looking to pick up an easy to build Redemptor as a sort of centre piece for my Space Wolves army (to run along side Bjorn and 3 other standard Dreads).
Are they any use / worth the purchase?

not looking for anything uber competitive but something viable nonetheless.

thanks

I like mine, I just pretend the heavy flamer is the onslaught gatling cannon. Shoots good, punches hard.

Good amount of Dakka. For me it is more usefull with the gatlings tan plasma.

At 155pts, its cheapest loadout is also its best. It's a solid platform that gives your lists a lot of flexibility. It takes buffs well. It's a solid counterattacker, dakkabot, and can do work in close combat. It is, however, pretty flimsy. I often run two in my lists, they're fun and cheap enough to lose without crippling you. Go for it!

Theyre good vs mortals bc they are fat. Ap wrecks them, though.

I agree, they pack decent dakka for their points and can hit things reasonably well in melee at a pinch. Onslaught + Heavy Onslaught is probably the best build IMHO so the easi-build one will either need converting or proxying as the heavy flamer is pretty disappointing.

26 shots at 24" doesnt suck.

But hit on 4+ whenever you move it sucks, even more so if you face Aeldari or Tyranids, which both have thousands of ways to make another -1 to hit.

So, you fire 26 shots, but there will only be 8 hits, so it sucks.

Nids will soon be in your 24" without moving. Eldar have to manage ranges very well to avoid that area, given their common loadouts. The Redemptor does good work at clearing chaff and threatening light vehicles, and with support can wreck face in CC. This is its role - bully and counterattacker. So yeah, it's niche, but that's quite a wide niche.

It has a horrible lascannon allergy though.

Lots of things suck by that definition then.

I've been running a 3 contemptor + 2 redemptor 1250 list with good results. Best redemptor loadout for me was all gatling and stormbolters. Plasma ain't too bad either but it's not as good vs tough targets as gatling is vs chaff. And you want to cleat out chaff before you get stuck in with those mellee attacks.

I also know a guy who's running 2 redemptors + guilliman in a mostly ig list. He's gone 4 - 1 at the last big team tourney.
