I got the renegade imperial knight starter box and I wanted to see if which of the 5 knights that you can build are the best two. I’ll magnetize the optional weapon at the top, but it looks like magnetizing the arms will be more difficult. Are some of the knights not worth using?

Magnetising the arms isn't too difficult, and I'd highly recommend it!

The best two Knights are the Crusader and the Gallant, so magnets really pay off.

Magnetize the hell out of them, it's worth it. I'd recommend magnetising the hip joint, the weapons, and the carapace weapon, as well as the missile faceplates for the carapace weapon.

Blood for the bloo... wait no, I meant for Sanguinius!

Magnets. Magnets. Magnets.

A knight is an expensive model, to not magnetise it is to throw money away.

Magnetizing the arm is easy and it's a blessing to transport them.

Really, go get some magnet. Round 8mm x 3mm or something like that is exactly the size of the arm, you need only to cut off a small amount of the original joint.

I can't condone a place where abusers and abused are threated the same: it's destined to doom, so there is no reason to participate in it.

I'll second the cry for Magnets. I am not handy at all, and I was able to make mine work. Just a couple things I learned: Plastic Glue is not Super Glue (use the latter on your magnets!) and triple-check your polarization.

That said, if you're really against arm magnets, I'd go for a Crusader and a Gallant, as suggested above. You'll still struggle with Rapid Fire Battle Cannon vs Thermal Cannon since both are decent, but I've made more lists with the Thermal Cannon since its cheaper.

I usually do the battle cannon on my crusader because the thermal cannon does poorly with my dice rolls.

You shouldn't build any Imperial Knights on Earth, you should build them on Mars where the tools are.

I just think the Battle Cannon makes more sense for the role of the Crusader. Keep it at arms length of anything that might threaten it.

Nope, I like my IK to be sturdy and avoid magnets. So far I have assembled a Gallant, Crusader & Warden. The next in line will be a Paladin.

Gear depends on battlefield role. My IK are armed with:

Crusader: RFBC&AG&IcAC&HvySt / Long range fire support

Gallant: CCWs&IrMis&Me / Close & personal

Warden: AG&ThG&StwMis&HvySt / Medium range fire support

Paladin: ThC&CCW&IcAc&Me / Close & personal

Though due to the limitations of weapons in the kit, some of the IK are equipped with gear that contradicts their role in battle but that´s not an issue for me because I am a collector first and gamer second.

Personally I don't see the point if I'm never going to field them together. Maybe you play Apocalypse or something though, if so fair enough!

If you use decent size magnets it'll be plenty sturdy though.

My IK spend 99,9% of their time in the assembly bay aka glass cabinet. I like to collect each variant of them and have them to be visible with their individual weapon loadout. And I am not playing 40K with them but IKR with custom rules. Have a look:

As has been said, magnetize it. If that's not an option, you can't really go wrong with a Crusader (Either Thermal Cannon + Avenger or double Avenger).

Is double AGC now a thing for Imperials?

Crusader. Don't glue down the arms and use zipkicker-ed super glue on the shoulder plates (makes the glue brittle when it dries full) and you can change out the weapons pretty easily.

Otherwise magnetizing isn't that hard on knights.

No, but he said he got a Renegade Knight kit so I assumed he is going to use it as Chaos.

Could be referring to the Renegades box which was just two Knights basically.

I got the Renegades box and intend to use them with my Space Wolves. They've already announced a renegade knight specific release sometime in the future. I'll wait for that to go with my Death Guard.

I purchased some 3/8 inch magnets and completed my first arm/gun. I carved out the space for my magnet with my knife which took a long time (3 more of those to go - ugh). The avenger gun was much easier only needing a magnet at the elbow. The two other guns look like they will need more magnets. One at the elbow, one on the body of the gun and one on each of the gun choices so that I have the ability to use two thermal cannons or two battle cannons. I think I'll need 16 magnets total.

Owning knights comes down to what you want to do with them. You have a ways to go to run Pure Knights, and you didn’t say what you would running with them if running Soup knights. Right now, it seems like the place to be is a knight lance and some vicious soup to run with it to CP power them up, and take objectives.
