I'm working on a necron list to use to help introduce new players( I'm planning on getting know no fear too) and wanted some opinions on it. I'm not too familiar with the necron rules so it might not be too great. I'm also trying to keep my lists around 500 points.
A doomsday ark at 500 points is a frankly irresponsible amount of firepower. If you're building competing lists out of boxes like Know No Fear, you're going to whitewash them with that tank alone.
It depends what you're after. Do you want to build a really good 500 pt list, or a good 500 pt list to teach new players the game?
Hmm I hadn't thought of that. I'm looking to make it a solid list to go against the armies in know no fear without completely destroying them. I also want it to be a solid foundation to upgrade to 1000 points when I can afford to for everything.

Consider replacing the ark with a squad of warriors or three wraith
Ok I took out the ark and a squad of immortals to add in a cryptek, a squad of warriors, and a squad of deathmarks. I think the only odd choice is the deathmarks, but I like the models so I kind of want to include them. Another note, I have it built as a patrol detachment because I wasn't sure what I was going to have and haven't looked over my detachment options.
