Archon
SF necromancer from their upcoming wargame in grey,
GW primeris in blue
I picked this sprue from Archon (Prodos) at the
UK games expo, it's apparently been sculpted, cut and the mould/sprue designed and cut (one of the most critical bits, even if your 3d sculptor is talented, and can cut their models for resin/metal production cutting for spued plastic is fairly different) in house in Poland (note they don't talk about the actual plastic production so from the sound of it you have to have contact with a factory with an appropriate machine to do casts, but they may well introduce you to whoever they're using?)
my impression of the sprue is good, it's well laid out, attatchment points are decent, mould lines look fine, it's maybe not quite as sharp as the
GW one when you get down to the small details but its pretty marginal and could be down the sculpting (more true scale looking at the hands) just as much as the tooling
photos of the leaflet they handed out talking about this, spoilered for size
Now while i'm not the greatest fan of Prodos/Archon because of the AvP debacle they're technically competent and clearly are making decent metal tools for sprue production and having another firm that's not out in the far east is a good thing
Do I believe they'll be able to handle things on the timescale they talk about, I doubt
(for example their Unicast resin stuff works well, but a number of
KS projects discussed using it and ended up talking other routes as they couldn't deliver on the timescales originally mentioned, Gangfight games for one if I remember right),
but certainly worth talking to them, the waiting lists to get stuff done in china is getting longer (not to mention tariffs if your in the USA), Renendra seems as busy as ever with very long waits to get a tool made, let alone a selection
