Subject: W40K: Kill Team question: If you include a unit that is magnetized and can carry several loadouts...

If you include a unit that is magnetized and can carry several loadouts, do you list that unit as another unit for each kind of loadout?
For example, I want to field a Dire Avenger Exarch that can be kitted with:
1. Dual Avenger shuriken catapults or:
2. Power glaive and shimmershield
Do I list him once on my Kill Team command roster or twice?
Thank you for any response and I apologize if this is the wrong forum (I'm new here; I read the rules but am not sure if this is the way to go about it ).

Is it supposed to be the same character that you want to change the loadout on, or different characters that you're planning on having with different loadouts, but are happening to use the same model (which of course means you wouldn't have both on the board at the same time)?

This is the right forum for Kill Team questions.
Personally, I'd list them as separate characters. My DW have a close combat Sgt under 1 name and a ranged Sgt under a 2nd. You'll have 20 slots anyway on the roster. Your local meta may be different, so ask your opponents what is the local practice.

You include two separate entries on your command roster because you have two separate entities for rules purposes and there is no option for a model to switch their equipment for each game. The fact that you might use the same model to represent both of them is irrelevant from a rules point of view.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

Thanks Ancestral Hamster!

I think Peregrine and Ancestral Hamster have the answer DoctorTom. Their input does make sense.

Thanks guys! Will adjust my command roster accordingly.

It makes no difference. Swapping a model's equipment on the roster is not an option. In the OP's example he has two units and needs two roster entries. In character terms, you might have the same squad sarge with two different loadouts but in game terms they are two separate units.

If you want the two roster entries to represent the same person, you'll need to be careful about matching the XP on both of them.
Personally in a campaign I'd be open to discussing a house rule to allow two different roster entries to represent a single character, and thus have a single XP total and upgrades. You gain some flexibility for an individual at the cost of reducing redundancy in your overall roster.

Whoa. I never thought of that.

Thanks for the tips AndrewGPaul!
