I'm coming back into the hobby somewhat, having played a lot of 7th but just really starting to game in 8th, and I want to sort out a themed list to build towards as a modelling project. I want it to have some chance of success!

The theme is squiggoths, I want to make a snakebite army to supplement my very large mechanised ork horde.

My initial list is as follows:

Battalion:

HQ:
Big Mek in Mega Armour, KFF
Warboss, Big Choppa, Kustom Shoota

Troops:
20 Gretchin
10 Gretchin
10 Gretchin

Elites:
3 Meganobs
5 Nobs, 3 kustom shootas, 2 kombi-skorchas
9 Nobs, 2 Power Klaws, 1 Big Choppa

Heavy Support:
9 Lootas
3 Mek Guns - 2 Smasha, 1 Kustom Mega Kannon
Morkanaught, Kustom Force Field (Modelled as mega-armoured squiggoth)

Spearhead Detachment:
HQ:
Warboss, Power Klaw, Kustom Shoota

Elites:
8 Tankbustas, 1 pistols, 2 squigs

Heavy Support:
Squiggoth
Squiggoth
Squiggoth

1999pts

My general taktik is:

Lootas go in cover with the 20grots in front of them to soak up any decent firepower with grot shields
other 2 units of 10 grots are there to interfere and get objectives
Meganobs ride in the Morkanaught
Tankbustas and 2 Nobs units ride in Squiggoths, with 2 warbosses and Big Mek

KFF from morkanaught used to cover 2 squiggoths, other squiggoth has Mek so free to move about more, or use the tellyporta.

Mek Guns position themselves accordingly to offer supporting fire.

General theory is that the squiggoths have the toughness and wounds to really benefit from the KFF. charge in and blaze away with the Tankbustas and shooty nobs, who can shoot even if the squiggoth is in CC, and discharge the Meganobs and CC nobs if there's something worth krumping. Morkanaught offers KFF protection and some firepower, and a more flexible CC approach. Squiggoths offer mortal wound dealing and a decent damage output for cracking tanks.

I've a long time before I have made the models, but any C&C on this list will be greatly appreciated!

Great theme, what klan are you thinking? Competitively, Depending on your meta, don’t think those Squiggoth’s are going to last too long. I run one with tankbustas in it alongside battle wagons full of shoota boyz all under kff and the squig and at least one of the BW’s never survive to turn three. Knights have taught everyone that one better have the ability to deal with tough, high wounds ,dangerous models. And our Saves just aren’t as good.
But if all your looking for is a cool fun army for casual games, Thumbs up!

DieHard 40K player. Primary Army: Goff/Deffskull Orks 18,000+ pts (And Growing Still, slowly)
Secondary army: Mentor Legion Space Marines, 4000 or so (heading for about 7-8000)
Tertiary army: Tau , eh bout 1750 or so, (someday 2-3000)
