Hi,

I've recently finished to paint the limited edition (500th store anniversary) -- It was the very first space marine that I paint.. Usually painting Tyranids and Genestealer Cults. Decided to make this one a custom chapter... Here is the backstory... Let me know if you like the scheme (pictures at the bottom) and story! I've added the recipe too.

"Gaia256 is world that is mostly covered by beautiful temperate forests. The temperatures range from -30 to 30°C (-22 to 86 F) and the forests receive 75-150 cm (30-60 in) of precipitation per year. Similar to the temperate forest of Terra before they became wastelands.

There are various trees and plant, but most are huge coniferous trees like pines. The soil is very fertile due to the constant decaying of fallen leaves. Moss is rampant but beautiful and soft. The planet does sound like heaven but many races such as orks and men have died a slow death there due to a particular spore in the air.

Gaia’s Sons is a Space Marine chapter that has been stationed on Gaia256 for hundreds of years. Over centuries, they have evolved being in constant interaction with the planet’s ecosystem — Developed an immunity to the deadly spores. Their armors now bear a beautiful mint color and some parts are covered in moss. In addition, their eyesight did also evolve, they can see the trees’ spirits who dwell in the deepest part of the forests."

I've posted the story and pictures on my blog: https://www.creoleabroad.com/home/2019/6/6/gaias-sons
Also in my insta: https://www.instagram.com/p/BycSjFBFaz6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Now the paint scheme (no airbrush):

- I used Vallejo Mecha Color Green Blue as main
- The grey is Vallejo Model Color Grey sky mixed with Citadel White Scar
- Shade used is Agrax Earthshade (3 parts lahmian medium -- 2 parts shade) in recesses.
- The moss is a mix of grounded dried parleys and thyme.
- Dirt is Tamiya dark soil
- Leaves are real dried leaves
- Puddle is Vallejo European mud.
- Added a Kodama to fit the backstory.

Overall a very pretty model.

I'm not usually focused on the base, but yours came out very nice.

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

Thank you! I'm looking forward to make more of these base for subsequent Gaia's Sons model. Love to tell a small story using the base.

Very nicely painted. I can't help but think that folks will assume at first glance that you're doing Nurgle primaris though.

Gotta be honest, it may look similar to Nurgle colors

Cool! The clean armour colour scheme + the details really work well together & I also like the backstory very much.

I think that the edge of the moss looks a little hard/not very organically placed, but I think that pretty much everything else is handled really nicely.

I have to agree with you! I've made some improvement for the artificial moss. Soon I'll show my Redemptor dreadnought and it's 100% better than this moss.. Just waiting on the still water to dry. Will definitely post it over the weekend. Thanks for the advice!
