Eh. Looks like they're trying too hard to be Deus Ex. Maybe they have the budget and soul to pull it off. But either way, I'm really disappointed by main character so I'll wait for it to be on sale a year or so after release.

Nice! I was hoping that we'd get the game late this year. But I'm willing to wait a little longer.
And very nice surprise! Seems appropriate, somehow.

What's wrong with the main character that the already announced full customization won't address? The game even makes allowances for the player's customization choices. The gameplay video that they released last year (which was the gameplay segment shown off at last year's E3) had the female protag waking up as a male hooker got dressed and left the character's apartment. According to the game press, the playthroughs at E3 that had a male protagonist (CDPR apparently alternated during the presentations that they did) used a female hooker in that scene instead. Yes, it's just a small thing. But it shows that they're paying attention.
Fair enough. I had missed the customization announcement.

Then I'm guessing you haven't seen the gameplay trailer that they released last Fall. It's a bit long (around 50 minutes, iirc), but you might want to go check it out.

I'll do that. The trailer I remember was much, much shorter.

Hopefully not much. He's the first damper on my enthusiasm I've seen for this game.
Not surprised by the release date at all.
As trailers go, this is perfectly adequate, but I'd like to see something meatier out of E3. They've said that a lot has changed since the big trailer last year, and I took that to mean game play. (And not the death of your buddy or the sudden yet inevitable betrayal of Mr Johnson*).

I did appreciate the name “Samurai”. A not so subtle nod to Shadowrun?
Nope. They got it from the same place Shadowrun did.
The Cyberpunk pencil and paper game predates Shadowrun. The boxed edition (yes, *boxed* - though all it had in the big black box was soft-cover black and white rulebooks) of Cyberpunk came out in 1988. The first edition of Shadowrun came out in 1989. Cyberpunk did a pretty good job of capturing the various tropes of '80s-era cyberpunk. One of those tropes was that Japan's economic rise was going to continue unabated (and a lot of people in the real world thought this... right up until the Japanese economy suddenly slumped), and it would eventually eclipse the US economy. Japanese corporations would become prominent among the megacorporations that dominate most cyberpunk settings, and elements of Japanese culture would spread to the US as more and more US citizens began to work for Japanese megacorps. The popularity of the word "samurai" within the setting is just one element of the spread of Japanese culture.
One of the supplements included the stats and cost of a katana with a blade made out of tough transparent material. For just a little more money, you could buy one with a small LED emitter installed in the hilt of the sword that would project into the blade, making it look like a laser katana.
I suspect Keanu will have a small, but important role within the game. It'll be small because he's probably expensive for a video game VA. But it'll likely be important nonetheless. It probably won't be a tutorial, though. Assuming that the sequence in the video makes it into the final game, that would be just *after* the extended prologue ended. The fixer that you meet in the video is the same one that sets you up with a job to prove yourself in last year's gameplay video. Assuming that the stuff in that gameplay trailer makes it into the game more or less intact, then the events in the new trailer would take place after the subsequent job. That would put Keanu's appearance a bit late in the game for a tutorial role (though he might instruct on certain aspects of gameplay that are introduced at that point).

So went ahead and watched the video that was queued up after the trailer finished. It's this one here -
The first half of it is the same trailer, minus the bit at the end with the release date. And then it cuts back to the stage... and Keanu Reeves walks out. He gives a short spiel for the game (if you're a fan, you might enjoy it; otherwise there's not much there). And then he asks if everyone wants to know the release date. When the crowd roars "Yes!", he points back to the main screen in the auditorium, which runs a short video (probably about a minute or so long) showing snippets of gameplay, and ending with the release date. It also mentions that the game is available for pre-order on XBox Live (I haven't confirmed this yet).
There's not much in that short bit. But it's all stuff that hasn't been shown before. So I'm confident that some here will want to check it out.
Edit - Why in the world is my flag showing as Canadian? I'm not posting from anywhere even remotely close to there.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Keanu has done work in the past for less money if it is something he is interested in. Then there's his giving away of some of his Matrix earnings, the back-end earnings based on the box-office performance, to the special effects and costumes teams, which ended up as him losing out on $75million and made the effects and costume people millionaires.
So, if this was something that he was really interested in, he would do it and not ask for a lot of money so that he could do it.

What is the issue?
It's not like they're going to run out of copies of the game on launch day. Nor are you likely to be unable to afford the game on launch day.
So why exactly are you handing your money to them now? No extra content*, no price discount**, you're just handing them your money for the privilege of waiting 10 month like everyone who doesn't pre-order. CDPR is swimming in Witcher money and CP is going to sell huge, it's not like they're a starving game dev that needs money to finish the project. Instead, they'll take all that pre-order money, stuff it in a bank account to earn interest (assuming they're smart enough to not spend pre-order money before launch) and rake in tens of thousands of extra dollars just for allowing people the 'luxury' of pre-ordering a game.
How much money? Based on 2% interest (lowballing), approximately $1.33 CAD per pre-order - actually less because Steam gets its cut, so call it $1 CAD per pre-order. 50,000 pre-orders = $50,000 CAD. But Cyberpunk is ALREADY at the top of Steam's global top sellers. That means they've shifted hundreds of thousands of units on Steam alone, never mind GOG/Gamestop/Best Buy. The interest on pre-orders alone could run into millions of dollars.
Pre-order periods keep getting longer and longer and this is exactly why - it's free money for the game devs, the longer it is the better. Two to three months would be reasonable. Ten months, assuming they make their release date? JUST GREEDY.
But if you must pre-order, GOG seems to have the best deal - order before June 17 and get a one time 30% discount off CKPR's merch store.
*On Steam, and some minor content on other platforms.
**Best Buy actually is offering $10 store credit on pre-orders of physical copies

It is strongly believed he is. It is a theory gaining traction right now.
Edit: more accurately he is a cyberghost of Johnny Silverhand. I dont think they have actual mindmapping in the era when Johnny died so its an AI personality construct. Which makes it 20% cooler as that means you get both the libertarian persona of Johnny Silverhand but behind the package is a corporate or AI high agenda. the more i dwell on this the more I like it. 'V' is being played big time, and we play too.

They do have some sort of mind-mapping, and Johhny has a very interesting connection to it. But the facf that it exists isn't common knowledge.
Spoilers...
(Background info from the pencil and paper game that *might* be relevant to the video game...)
Spoiler:
The short story in the first edition of the game revolved around the 2013 kidnapping of Johnny's girlfriend, Alt Cunningham. Unbenownst to Johnny, Alt was the developer of a particularly nasty piece of black ice called Soulkiller that literally sucked your consciousness out of your body. The Arasaka megacorporation had discovered that fact and wanted her to upgrade Soulkiller into an assassination tool that they could direct. She played along, but used the time available to instead use it to allow the user (i.e. her) to upload her consciousness into the net where Soulkiller would protect it until she was ready to download her consciousness back into her body. Unfortunately, when Johnny's team came to rescue her, they inadvertantly severred her body's connection to the net, leaving her unable to return.
That short story is very much still canon.
On another note, people have noted that the fixer in the trailer sounds suspiciously like Mike Pondsmith. He's the owner of R. Talsorian Games, and the guy who originally created the Cyberpunk pencil and paper game. There's also speculation that since Johnny is one of the three personal childhood heroes that you can choose between, the other two might appear as well. One of those two is Morgan Blackhand, who is Pondsmith's personal character. If he does, I suspect that there's a good chance that Pondsmith will voice him as well.
Can't really get myself excited over a trailer that is not "in engine/in game" so to speak. In fact E3 overall was kind of lame in that regard, cept for Doom which will surely deliver. Lots of glossy trailers, but little gameplay substance being shown for most of these games.
As for Cyberpunk 2077 though I think it'll be either good or one of the biggest disappointments of the decade. Keanu Reeves is nothing more than a big dash of cringe cheese at the end though. It's like they took a ton of elements from blade runner, mad max, deus ex, gits, and more and blended it all together into a generic mish mash. I decided to stop pre ordering games back when no mans sky came out, and i'm sticking to it.

E3 hasn't really started yet. What we've seen so far is just the console makers doing pre-show shows. The videos linked above are from the XBox show. CDPR will be showing the game off on the 12th. Unfortunately, at least some of that presentation will be hidden from the public until Pax in August.
Or in other words, last year's 48 minute gameplay trailer is still the last word on gameplay, and likely will be for 2-3 more months.

Well.... no. I agree on Keanu and pre-ordering, but the rest is pretty odd, considering Cyberpunk (the RPG) predates half the things you mentioned there (and.. mad max? not sure where this comes from). The cyberpunk (as in the genre) style is pretty established, it'd be downright weird to abandon it while doing a cRPG version of a game that built itself on catering to that genre.
Personally, I was really impressed by the big gameplay trailer from last year, and a lot of the freedom of choice (and character- which is a huge step up from the Witcher for me personally) they've mentioned. That they've said they've made substantial changes from last years gameplay footage actually has me worried. And from that perspective this trailer is a whole lot of nothing (and a piece of stinky cheese in the form of Ted 'Theodore' Logan), since it doesn't dig into the game. But then, its a pure PR trailer, so it has no real reason to.
Efficiency is the highest virtue.

In the video I linked mid-way down the page (the one with Keanu Reeves at the XBox presentation), I noted that there's a short tease of gameplay snippets at the end of the video. I've got a link here (found on the Steam page) that has only that 39 seconds of video -
Note that Johnny Silverhand can be spotted twice in the snippets - the first at two seconds in, when V is shown standing outside looking into a doorway (Johnny's inside, on the right side of the doorway). The second is when V's talking to someone and mentions that Mr. Hand (Han?) sent him. Johnny's standing behind the guy V's talking to, again on the right-hand side of the screen.
So it looks like he's going to do more than just pick you up out of the trash heap.
