I thinik ahriman and demon princes are run in every chaos list, out there.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

The 3 models you pretty much have to have are going to be
Ahriman
Daemon prince
Daemon prince

Magnus makes a nice center piece and is fun to play but is dead if you don't go turn one. Avoid the vortex beasts. Skyfires can be good if you take a shaman, tznngor bombs are good only if you go first, and don't group them with 15 or more else you will loose half of them to moral

To many unpainted models to count.

You need some heavy weapons too, and for me your best option here is Contemptors.

If you are talking forge world weapons then that would work.

Magnus won't be dead turn one if you face Space Marines or Necrons unless you are incredibly unlucky. But if you face Tau, Aeldari, Castellan lead IK army, good luck.

So in conclusion, he is a bully unit and probably a decent distraction carnifex, but not a "must have" one.

Yup, quad Lascannons. Butcher cannons are tasty too though.

Hi, Sons are a great army, lots of fun, very tactical due to their array of psychic powers. Most people will knock rubrics but they've improved recently to the point that running 5-man teams is pretty viable. They pair very well with chaos familiar Strat to unlock heretics powers on them. They hold objectives, hide in cover, take pot shots and provide psychic defence & mortal wounds, all for 97pts.

I'd recommend a second box of Rubrics and then... all the Tzaangors. 4 boxes minimum. Altogether this unlocks a decent double battalion for you. One tzaangor blob of 20 goes in deep strike, the other gets the darkmatter crystal to charge turn one. Your other option is cultists, and there's a good case for a blob of 30 as one of your troop choices depending on the rest of your list, but they are pretty poor for Sons as they don't get tide of traitors and Sons have no morale-cancelling shenanigans.

After that, HQs should probably be Ahriman and 1+ Daemon Princes. 3 is best. There's a case for an exalted on a disc with seer's bane, if you want to shave 40pts, and you know, they're cool.

That gives you 13 casts a turn in total and 12CPs. That''s around 1300pts, and from there how you spend your remaining 450/650pts is your call. TBH, Forgeworld is very good for Sons - they love contemptors, deredeos and leviathans because their other gun options are pretty limited - no havocs, no oblits, etc.

All of this is assuming you're going mono codex of course.

either run one or two units of Rubrics for cheap power + durable scoring and put the focus of your list elsewhere, or just Max out on Rubrics and go in. Rubric spam is extremely hard to deal with and has incredible success competitively.

Other than that, yeah. A Tzaangor Bomb, Daemon Princes, Ahriman, these are present in almost every list for good reason.

Saving points for summoning can be good too. A unit of Tzeentch flamers in the sideboard to come in and clear out a culexus is probably something you'd rather have available when you need it.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.
