So I'm back after a haitus. Picked up Ssyl'eske the daemon Prince and herald of Slaanesh as I've never done a Slaaneshi Daemon and I've been thinking of skin tone ideas. I want to do them up like a Hindu god. So blue skin, orange robes and bright silver jewellery with rubies for gemstones. I'm priming corax white. What do I need to do to get a depiction of for example Kali or Shiva. I was thinking caledor sky and then share with drakkenhoff nightshade then layer up caledor sky with a lighter blue and pick out all his gorgeous scars with a lighter blue again before a final pass with the wash to bring it together. Or should I bite the bullet and use a contrast paint?
Haven't painted in a year so any tips would be Brill!
So a bit of work in progress and I think that if you summoned him from a lamp, you'd never have a friend like him....

I'd get baharroth blue. It's an edge paint, and it will give a nice light blue that will suit the Hindu god look perfectly. Take whatever base blue you're using, then mix with that for your highlights.

OK so a bit of wip.
Prime corax white
Base coat caledor sky
Drybrush lothren blue
Drybrush lothren blue with a bit of skull white
Final pass with skull white.
Gonna let that dry overnight and then wash with drakenhoff tomorrow evening. Then do another pass with the skull white.

You'll want to keep your wash subtle. You've got a good blue going there (very Doctor Manhattan!) and an overly-dark wash will not look right.

You should was after your base coat, not at the end, or it will ruin your layers. You can glaze between layers (guilliman blue) to smooth them out, but washes should be done early.

Hrmmmm.... I shall try glazing. In the past I've used washes on deathwing terminators to bring layers together but I went back to drybrushing after.

Yeah a wash will do it on small areas, but for big bits of skin like that, glazing will work much better, and will aid your layers rather than diminishing them.
