I guess since they're working on them, yes.... The question should be are we going to see them in 2019 or 2020.

given we've got one coming out in a week or two, the answer is yes. it's been known that the sisters are gonna be a late 2019 release for awhile. I expect them to be the oct/nov big release. with space marines filling the late summer release

I asked that question (though possibly phrased slightly differently) in the UKGW seminar - the answer, while pretty non-committal, sounded like they were still on track for this year.

I swear, my first question the next time I'm at one of these is going to be "What sort of question do we need to ask to get some straight answers?", as I'd say 75% of questions got a non-answer in response.

I've actually been told the answer to that by people in other industries and the answer is "questions that won't make a promise" basicly. GW's not going to say "this will happen in X" until it's locked in eneugh that is absol;utely will happen. because fans tend to be ignorant and unforgiving of industry realities. promise sisters of battle in October and something happens to delay it until december and people generally don't say "eh these things happen" they'll be all up in arms with "GW LIED"

The real question is whether there will be any new plastic Sisters, or if it's all 3e updates. That's all we've seen so far, but I'm itching for some kind of new unit.

GW has NEVER released a rework of a model without at least adding new options. So even if SOBs don't get new models they'll almost certainly get new ways to use their old units

Yeah, I wasn't asking for them to confirm a specific month or anything, just if they were still on track for 2019 - I guess even that was a little too specific...

Don't ask questions about future releases or dates. I would have thought by now that would be fairly obvious, but then there's always someone who asks "When are you releasing <thing for my army>", which just wastes everyone's time. As an example, there was a similarly non-commital answer from Andy Hoare to a question about Enforcers on the Twtich stream literally two days before the seminar where they were revealed. news of new releases will come when they're good and ready to announce it, and you're not going to find out in an off-the cuff response in a Q&A.

I suppose they were being extra careful after the delay to the Sylvaneth book.

You mean the ork fans rabidly speculating on things that were never actually said and running with a theme until they got hurt? You can hardly blame games workshop for that...

Gw did say all factions would be out in a year. Even if one assumes year from first codex that still left orks late. Nevermind stealer cult which was supposed to come before orks.

Gw got backfired by saying as vague as within year. Imagine more specific date being missed

I think we can just go ahead and restate the obvious:

GW sucks at time lines, time tables, and keeping to set dates. They have like a zero percent rating for numbers of times they've actually kept up with a posted date for something.

If I recall correctly, even 8th was delayed from the posted release date...

To be fair once you've followed a few wargame kickstarters and other wargame companies I think its just about the fact that the whole market can't do deadlines

Though more to the point I think its just that some of the complexities of taking a 2D drawing into a 3D design which is suitable for mass production casting are far more complex than many of us realise. Throwing up all kinds of issues and that's before we get outside influences. A mould on a regular model breaking without warning and eating up a significant chunk of budget to be replaced which delays money for the new castings; a release that gets knocked back which then impacts another etc... Heck even one or two key members of staff going ill can stall things (and smaller companies have straight up died when key members of staff get taken ill and they've simply got no internal replacements).

That said GW are honestly pretty good at least with delivering on most of what they advertise and they generally do try to keep tehir direct advertising of new things limited to when its almost 100% certain to be released when they say. Things like getting all of 40K in a year were big claims and lets not kid ourselves they were not so much dragging their heels as they were simply dealing with a huge monster scale release. Even then they were only around half a year late on a few armies and when they came out things were good!

Sisters are coming, hopefully they will make it this year as GW has aimed for. Even if they release nothing totally new simply revamping the old kits is going to be a huge release in itself. GW might also use that moment to create some duel kits or add new weapons/options to existing kits. So we might see new stuff that way rather than as a totally new sculpt. That said Sisters also has some gaps; eg they've no dedicated flying unit like the rest of the armies; they've no dedicated superheavy unit etc... So there are some clear gaps which, whilst Imperial Soup can fill them, gives GW ample space to add new things to their force.
