I'm just curious as it seems that all Aggressors that I see are equipped with Boltstorm Gauntlets. Is that the only worthwhile option for them?

Thanks

Boltstorm. You get more shots at a longer distance plus the added Fragstorm Grenade Launchers.

Is that why the less expensive "Easy to Build" version of Aggressors come with the Flamestorm Gauntlets instead?

I dunno, I've seen some pretty disgusting things done with flamestorm gauntlets.

Not saying they are the do-all like the Bolter fists are, but 12d6 auto-hitting would give a Knight reason to pause an reconsider.

The auto-hits and overwatch is nice but Flamestorm Aggressors have cripplingly short range, slow movement and take up 2 spaces in a Transport. This to me is not a happy combo. Even the boltstorms are a bit short ranged for my tastes but have enough firepower to make them worthwhile imHO.

Right, but they come in squads o f 3, so you can drop 2 and a captain out the back of a repulsor, and then you don't count as having moved, so you can shoot 12d6 autohitting, re-rolling wounds of 1, and if you are of the Salamander Variety, you can get +1 to wound, and you can re-roll those d6s and take the larger.

An easy way to visualise the superiority of the bolters is to look at the ranges - even when advancing the flamers have a smaller threat range than bolters standing still - anytime the flamers would be used in your own shooting phase the bolters (which already have better rate of fire) could be used twice.

I guess the niches of flamer gauntlets are overwatch, playing on tables with insane amounts of terrain, or I guess maybe in melee they should still benefit from Vulcan's wound reroll?

Disembarking from a vehicle does count as moving, though, so only 6d6.

Captains also don't give reroll 1s to wound, only Lieutenants.
