The new Battle Systems card terrain kickstarter is now live (and funded) -

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1621774283/fantasy-wargames-terrain-from-battle-systemstm

Two different terrain bundles up so far and they have hinted that a third will be added later.

First two stretch goals have been unlocked (small house and straight roads), Third goal, currently locked, is for fences.

I am thinking of getting a few sets for Rangers of Shadowdeep, Lord of the Rings and Song of Ice and Fire miniatures game.

Nothing I particularly need, so I won't be backing it - but they do stellar products (I think they get a little carried away with tiny stuff which doesn't look too good - the larger stuff is more suited to their work).

I'm sure they'll do very well here.

Controversial opinion but I don’t like their stuff. I got the Red Rocket kit for Fallout and it’s very flimsy, certainly not suited to repeated disassembly or heavy use. YMMV.

I don't need it since I started foam crafting, but it's lovely stuff.

Posters on ignore list: 36

40k Potica Edition - 40k patch with reactions, suppression and all that good stuff. Feedback thread here.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I like this, but not as much as I like 3d print.
Sorry but not backing.

Its a matter of personal aesthetics, I have no doubt that this will sell well to the right people.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Damn, their Sci-fi stuff was too fiddley to bother with for Infinity, but I was looking forward to this for Vanguard games since fantasy buildings mostly just sit there to block LoS and look pretty. But $95 plus international shipping for 4 and a half buildings plus some scatter, that's kind of a tall order.

For not much more money you could get much better looking resin buildings (but you'd need to paint it yourself), for much less money you could make it yourself out of cardboard and foam (but you'd need to make it and paint it yourself). For about the same price you could get Plastcraft pre-printed stuff or lasercut MDF, although the pre-colored MDF would be more than that.

About the only advantage this terrain has is you can break it down and flat-pack it away if storage space is an issue, although if you're going to be breaking it down and reassembling it a lot you need to go over the edges with superglue, and to blend th eedges you need to go over them with appropriately colored markers. It's easy to do, but you wind up spending about as much time as it takes to paint regular terrain

I'll keep an eye on this one in case it goes bonkers with stretch goals, but at the asking price this is probably not for me

Same here. With shipping to the USA, it comes down to $20 per building. For the cost of two pledges or ten buildings, you can buy a Crealty Ender (sp) 3D printer. Internationals may want to look at DriveThruRPG's papercraft, or look into 3D printing. I set it on Reminder, so hopefully the cost per building will go down.

EDIT: Yeah, not helping that gamers are printing out stuff like this. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3575780

Looks fun, but I went haaaaaaaard on the Hagglethorne Hollow KS, to the effect of $800. In theory i'm set for 28mm Fantasy terrain for the rest of my life. :-p

Reminds me of the terraclips stuff Wyrd put out years ago. Still have a bunch of it sitting in some drawers as I moved to 3d printing.

You can sell the Wyrd stuff for big money on eBay sometimes.

I guess I can be the voice of optimism and say I'm happy to back it.

The fact that they're including buildings already as stretch goals is nice. Roads too.

The lack of a mat is a bit of a bummer, but I've got one from Ganesha Games years ago that's served me quite well.

I'm looking forward to seeing how much they end up including. We've used Battlesystems terrain quite a few times and it's nice how quick it is to set up and take down.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I have like 20 sets and 5-6 sets of clips. Haven't bothered selling them as I don't want to part them all out.

These seam to go together faster the Wyrd ones which were really just floor and wall tiles you clipped together to make things. Great for RPG dungeons but really slow to build out anything interesting for a miniature game. I will say if the cardboard is the same quality of the Terraclips they'll be surprisingly durable.

Battle Systems Fantasy Kickstarter is continuing to grow and churn out extra stuff for backers.

They've recently added a ruined building and free fences and stone walls to every pledge,

and now they've released a new add-on - the mill.

It is a bit eh? I think it would make a cracking centrepiece for a game.

I have tons of all (except the original fantasy) BS terrain. I think it's fantastic. I keep a box with all the pre-made glued pieces like crates, turbines, lockers, the shuttle, ladders, etc. The rest stores flat in their boxes.

The mill looks good, but it looks like the first piece that is going to be a faf to make up, dismantle and store between games.

My Painting Blog: http://gimgamgoo.com/
Currently most played: Silent Death, Xenos Rampant, Mars Code Aurora and Battletech.
I tried dabbling with 40k9/10 again and tried AoS3 - Nice models, naff games, but I'm enjoying HH2 and loving Battletech Classic and Alpha Strike.

I don't think it will be too bad to build. The wheel is not much different to a set of Battle Systems stairs, and the roof is a series of half cuts that help to form the bend, something BS have gotten very good at doing over the years.

I've asked about storage on the basis that the wheel should remain intact and I wouldn't want to uncurve the roof as repeatedly doing so might be a problem over time.

I got a response on the above question and was told that yes, even the roofs will lay pretty flat, and that they will discuss storage and packing away in a video before the KS ends.

They've also added a new building as a purchasable add-on today - the Chapel.

Here's a mid-campaign video from Colin @ Battle Systems. Well worth a watch.

So, this is the thing about Battle Systems - unlike most kickstarter creators, they don't start out with a complete product and effectively then tease a pre-sale event out of backers, they actually listen to input and feedback over the course of the project, react to it, and sometimes (not always of course) bring some of the many thoughts, ideas, requests into the project.

This has always been the case. Literally in every single KS they've ever run, I can point to components that only exist because backers came up with cool ideas.

The Fantasy KS is no exception.

Both the Mill and the Chapel were created after the KS started in response to backer feedback.

and now they've gone one stage further.......

People were asking, very early on, for snow covered roofs - you know, for Frostgrave, ASoIAF, or hell, just because it would be cool.

Well they've only gone and done it !

That is cool!

And that video link posted above convinced me to back this project - can't wait for this terrain to arrive now!

and now they have a Wizard's Tower......

This thing may just be the best single piece of terrain Colin has ever designed. It's going to be awesome in the middle of a table.

Battle Systems just added a whole new pledge type to their Fantasy kickstarter - The Citadel !

Lots of components to build your own castle, with their usual modularity to give you the option of switching things around - longer walls, taller turrets, combine walls with village buildings for fortified houses, city walls, a keep, etc. Combine multiple sets to create a huge complex.

Interested? Take a look. This is just the latest in a series of options, and in addition we've unlocked loads of stretchgoals for free stuff to be added to every pledge made. They've also added a new pledge level for 3 sets at a discount, so you could get a village, a battlefield and a citadel (and get 3 sets of the stretchgoals which themselves includes a large building) and have more than enough terrain for even a 6x4 table.

I like it!

What’s the pledge level/cost for it?

Backing this too, really like the other Battle Systems stuff and this looks amazing.

It's the same as the other sets, £75 per set and unlocks at £200K which isn't far off.

75 quid gets you 4 turrets, 4 feet of walls, a gate, and a bunch of other stuff, PLUS a complete set of free stretch goals.

Here's the current stretchgoals ...

The kickstarter is now within its final 24 hours, and blasting through stretchgoals on a regular basis, adding more and more value to the pledges. Since they released the Citadel, there have been free market stalls, an extra set of ruins, a dimension gate (definitely NOT a stargate ;-) ), extra artwork for lakes and ponds, and we're well on the way to unlocking some equipment and scatter scenery for the blacksmith's, and then extra items for the market stalls, oh and every Village pledge now gets an additional building, the thatched cottage.

The team at BS towers is working away to bring us more stuff as well.

Pop in and take a look. This KS has broken all previous records for Battle Systems.
