So I got myself a Copic 0.05 pen to experiment with some cell shading/comic shading.

Problem is that the pen does not flow consistently over the paint.....its like it dries up after a few scratches, and I need to swirl it around on something else to get it started again....and then it stops....etc etc ad nauseam.

I thought that Copic was supposed to be a good brand....

Do I need a bigger size? Different brand? Or just try using a super small brush and ink?

Older pen?
Or
You are scraping paint onto the point. Ultra fine points tend to do that.

Even a .05 or smaller copic should flow with just gentle touches even on to a painted surface. You shouldn't need any real pressure to transfer the ink.
