Was there any space combat between the Space Marines and the Black Legion in Space during Vigilus Ablaze? Were there any epic boarding actions on either side? Any Battle Barges trading blows sending waves of Marines into each other?

If so was space combat regular or was it isolated to a couple separate incidents?

there was absolutely space combat involve. some pretty big ones too. the battle in fact was finally won by a combined eldar/Imperial navy strike on the Vengeful Spirit that crippled the ship and forced Abaddon to withdraw.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

There were two big naval battles mentioned - albeit without much detail.

1) On the way in, Abbadon's fleet basically flies straight into the centre of Calgar's; it looks like the Warmaster dun goofed and is going to take massive damage in the crossfire, but in the moments before engagement there's a daemonic incursion on the command decks of loads of Calgar's capital ships, wounding him and killing lots of senior officers, and in the confusion Vengeful Spirit and the Chaos fleet punch through the Imperial formation. Calgar and his surviving ships book it back to Vigilus.

2) At the height of the Vigilus war, Calgar's last ditch plan was to launch a suicide attack on the Vengeful Spirit whilst the Warmaster was distracted hunting him. Most of the Imperial ships were killed, but they in turn were a distraction, the real 'hit' was an eldar ship running silent which rammed the Vengeful Spirit and had been loaded with the governor's collection of Deathstrike Missile vortex warheads (eh...hobbyist has to collect something, I guess), causing enough damage that the Vengeful Spirit's commander books it, and Abbadon withdraws from the planet to catch up with him and (presumably) have a quiet conversation about nearly losing his flagship over a cup of tea and a selection of excruciator blades.

Lucky Americans. We should have the right to own nukes for protection. Or at the very least a handgun.

About the Vigilus conflict though:
It was bs. I love my Cadians and my Dark Angels, but it was an extreme fail by GW. They boost this guy to look all powerful, then he loses in the battle that was supposed to make Chaos seem like a credible threat again.

Also, one again, the Eldar are used as punching bags, and forced into using their own ship and crew to launch a suicide run. Just how out of character is that sentence? The only punching bags should be the Tau, yet the Tau have magically amazing intuition that comes off as prescience, and the Psychically gifted Eldar, for all their Seer Councils and future-telling, are still portrayed as weak, naive people who get killed by anything
