Question about shooting with units:
I have a squad of 10 shoota boyz behind a wall in a line. I want the shoota boyz to shoot at a unit of space marines on the other side of the wall. After checking line of sight, only the shoota boy at the end of the line (poking out slightly from the end of the wall) has line of sight to the space marines.

Q1: Can the entire unit of shoota boyz shoot at the space marines despite only the one on the end having line of sight?
Q2: If yes to Q1, to check that the space marines are within range of the shoota boyz, where do I measure the range from? (i.e. check the range for each model individually in a direct line over the wall and determine which ones are/are not in range? Or from the single shoota boy with line of sight? Or from the directly closest model who does not have line of sight? etc.)

Thanks in advance.

Q1
Only the shoota boy on the end can shoot. You only need to see one model in the enemy unit, but each model that wants to shoot needs to have line of sight to do so.

Q2 is therefore redundant.

LOS and range is on a model to model basis. If only one ork boy can see the marines, and is in range, only he can fire.
Quite the opposite is true for the marines. If they all can see the ork boy, and all are in range, your entire ork unit could be killed.

Q1) No. Line of Sight when shooting is checked on a Model by Model basis. If only 1 Boy out of 10 can see any enemy models, then only 1 Boy can shoot. However, the reverse is not true. If all 10 Boyz can only see 1 out of 10 Marines, all 10 Boyz can shoot and all 10 Marines could potentially die.

Q2) Likewise, range is also checked on a Model by Model basis.

Keep in mind that Range and Line of Sight are only checked once, when you declare the targets for the shooting. After that, it is "locked in" and casualties can't affect whether you lose Line of Sight or Range.
