hi there,

so when choosing commanders for a detachment the only important thing to be aware of is LEADERSHIP, right?
the unit with the highest LD is always the commander, right?
or am i missing something?

because this leads to strange things... like when a unit of gretchin takes over command because its LD is higher than my big mek's...
or basically a 30 boy stong unit must be chosen as the commander rather than my warboss...
or a wraithlord outranking a spiritseer...

this is kinda weird... characters should be allowed to be chosen as commanders regardless of LD... but i cant find such rule in the book :/

Yes, that is true. Unless GW say otherwise this will remain true.

The only thing you could argue about the ork boyz is that during the list building phase they use the leadership that is written on their datasheet.

They don't actually have the increased leadership till they are on the table and the game begins.

This not only makes more sense, but it is definitely in the spirit of the game for your HQ's to be the commander.

Sorry, but what? The leadership for "Boyz (30 models)" is very much written on their datasheet as 7. This isn't normal 40k where they have Mob Rule.

On the data sheets Ghaz has a Ld 6 and a unit of 30 Boyz has a Ld 7. It's in the actual stat line.

Ghaz Pg2
Boyz Pg 10

The statlines only exist for unit. There is no model stat line.

That is not true.

Models have characteristics (aka statlines).

The unit has a statline that affects the models in that unit, as per your quoted text.

Apocalypse. Not 40k. Str and toughness dont exist in apoc and models dont have statlines in apoc. Units do.

Then you should note you are talking about Apocalypse.

The question you were referring to did not state which rules they were talking about either.

They really need a different forum for Apoc garbage.

The topic is named "Subject: Apocalypse and choosing commanders" why would we be talking about apoc?

The title of the thread is Apocalypse and choosing commanders.

Also the only commanders in 40k are tau units. Not orks. Where as every detachment in apoc has a commander.

Also leadership is not a factor in selecting units in 40k, it is in apoc where commanders are a thing.

So at what point did anything you read in this thread make any sense in the context of regular 40k?

1) The title of the thread literally says it's talking about Apocalypse.

2) I've reported all the Apoc threads as there is a forum for them, but the mods disagree apparently.

3) Apoc is objectively superior to 8th edition by any metric.

People talk about Apoc in normal 40k Threads...

So...

This may have been one of those cases.

1) Does not matter, see above.

2) Yea, they seriously need to separate them.

3) LOLOL no. you are just wrong here.
