40k. Basically, I don't think I'd have been interested in the whole universe if it weren't for the whole "walking laser cathedral" aesthetic. However, neither Fantasy nor
40k had it, and no one I knew was playing epic. So, I'm really thinking about ripping off the plastic seal and turning this into my pet project--to have two factions ready to play for houseguests of nerdly inclinations (and what other sorts of houseguests should one have, anyway?). I'm worried that this game will go the way of Dreadfleet or Space Hulk. Is this unfounded? How popular is it? Will it be getting releases in the future?
Walking Laser Cathedral! In all its glory (and annoyingly google wouldn't let me find a larger image, though I did send me to Geofftaylors website

Like you I grew up wanting to play with that massive titan and, again, finding not many if any one really played Epic around me either.
AT is far more popular and the models - freaking heck when you open that box the detail and style of the Warlord titan is AWESOME to behold. The knights are great too and honestly the whole range is looking great.
As others said its getting updates, heck just this last weekend the Acastus Knights Porphyrion went on pre-order sale - basically laser artillery knights!

Warhounds, reavers, knights of various types. Forgeworld even has a pair of guns for the Warlord titan; there's a weapon expansion on
GW also for the beast. Also the arms for the Warlord are built with magnet slots already fitted, you just have to supply your own magnets. So you can very easily magnetize the weapons on the Warlord. People have even magnetized down to the knights (bit more fiddly). Basically loads of choice and options in the weapon loadouts.
Right now I expect
AT to have 3 general generations. The first is the one its currently in with 1 line of models doing Loyalists and Traitors. Second generation I expect to be the appearance of actual twisted Chaos Titans. Those warped a little and a lot by Chaos and all the way to the warped spawn of the Chaos Realm in unique appearing titans. Third generation I expect to be the appearance of Xenos - Eldar, Orks, Tyranids etc... Since titans basically don't change over time (save for the corrupted chaos versions appearing) its fully possible that the Imperial range can go on without any update and span the length of time from the Great Civil War all the way to the 41st mellenium where Xenos are around.
