So there I was, watching THE Duncan teach me to paint, bright eyed and bushy tailed. The bases of his models were black and so were mine as he painted so I didn’t even consider that I would need to undercoat/prime them. I didn’t make the connection that he undercoated with black so the bases didn’t look any different from mine. However, I sprayed the minis with white and not the bases.
So a few weeks later my first ever batch of miniatures almost complete, glued to unprimed bases.
Now it’s time to get them finished and surprise! I realized I probably should have attached the minis to their bases when I sprayed them or something.
So: priming bases after painted minis are attached
1) should I even bother?
2) will GW technical paint adhere to the bare plastic?
3) should I look into brush-applied primer?
Thanks for any help!

You dont really need to glue the base first. some times its easier to paint some models without them.
just spray prime them separately and super glue em on to finish it.

Primer isn't a life or death situation. It's just a layer of paint for the next layer to adhere to. Nothings going to go wrong if you forget to prime something.
If I was in this exact situation, I'd most likely just put an unthinned but even layer of paint down on the base. It really depends on what the technical paint is and what your bases are going to be like.

I learned my lesson with the second batch that are being primed now: spray the base
I’ll try using paint before the technical stuff. I have Astrogranite just to put something down. It’s my first attempt so nothing fancy.

Astrogranite won't need an undercoat as it needs to go on super thick anyway. Just smear it on using a scalpel or hobby spatula.
