A fun/fluffy rule I have thought up for certain weapons across multiple/all armies.

Detonating Round: If a vehicle or monstrous creature is destroyed by a weapon with this rule, the vehicle explosion or death throw rules are automatically enacted, causing the Mortal wounds as set out for each vehicle or monstrous creature. If the vehicle or MC is a super heavy/titanic unit then the explosion roll result made by the owning player is increased by 1

If a demolished cannon causes a vehicle to explode, it should auto explode in my opinion. Same for a Vanquisher cannon, or an Eldar Fire prism. It would also give plenty of armies more options, strategies and tactics to use. You can suggest which weapons from all armies lull gin this rule below.

Exploding vehicles are fun and add to the carnage in a game also.

Something a bit more universal I've toyed with is making vehicles explode on a 7+, but adding the number of wounds dealt past the killing point as a modifier.

So, for example, I shoot 4 Lascannon shots at a Leman Russ on 5 wounds. I hit with three, wound with two, and he fails both saves. I roll a 4 and a 6 for damage-10 damage total, putting him at -5.

So, he'd roll 1d6+5, and on a 7+ explodes.

What about for ‘nid Death Throes? seems like excessive damage would leave less of the corpse lying about to thrash around?

(perhaps the reverse - Death Throes on a 2+, subtract one from the roll for each wound below zero inflicted?)

It never ends well

Makes sense.

They're still made of big and heavy sharp things, the more individual components they are blown into, the more shrapnel that is been thrown around.

What about simply "Explode on a 7+, but add the Ap value of the weapon that took the final wound"?

Example: Destroy a vehicle with a Meltagun, he'd be exploding on a 3+, but only a 6+ for a Heavy Bolter.

I prefer the overkill idea, as it means that it's more likely to explode if, say, 10 heavy bolters shoot it than if just 1 does. blast it into smithereens!

HH actually has this rule, its called Heliothermic Detonation: If any target suffers one or more unsaved wound from this weapon and is not slain they must take an immediate thoughness test, If the test is failed they suffer instant death (for 8th a mortal wound)

To many unpainted models to count.

I like this one as penetrating is more likely to set off fuel and ammo.
