Yes you can take the morale check and try to roll that one.

Ok thanks so much! I always thought you can only take morale if you have something to lose

Any unit with models slain must take a morale test during the morale phase.
In practice, people will usually skip the test when they can't possibly fail. But in certain cases like yours you'll want to take morale at every opportunity.

This. You always have to take the test, but since there are times where even a 6 won't cause models to flee, people just skip it. Regarding the Icon, don't get your hopes up. It's nice when it works, but it almost never does. At least a recent game I played with almost 100 Deaemonettes didn't roll a single 1 for their Morale the whole game. Also keep in mind that you only get back SLAIN models. So if you only lose 1-2 models, 1-2 models is all you can get back, even if you roll 3+ for the models to return to the unit -

If I had to pick, though, I'd only get an Instrument for each unit. For 15ppm, it's probably better to just take 2 more Troop models per unit to start with since you get guaranteed extra models/attacks vs only getting them 1/6th of the time. But I still like the Icon, so I take it anyway. The look on an opponents face is priceless when they kill 6+ models (usually guaranteeing models will flee) but instead of any more fleeing, you get back 5-6 -

You can use a daemon prince of chaos from the daemon codex and give him the warp tether warlord trait. This allows you to re-roll failed morale tests. Another chance to roll a 1. But this only works if your morale test can fail. Losing one daemon is not enough. Or use gaze of fate for a free re-roll during your turn.
