TOTAL: 2000/2000 EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 0 WOUNDS: 132

Looking for comments. Was thinking of running this at a small tournament at a local game store. The idea is hold and chase with my Evocator Deathstar

So the following with start in the Celestial Realms
Evocators
Gavriel Sureheart
Knight-Heraldor

The idea is turn 1/2 drop the deathstar on their kill units or vulnerable units. Gavriel is for the +3 to charge and the Heraldor is to allow Evocators to Run/Charge same phase.
The Incantor is my suicide bomber / magical support. He is using the Doppleganger cloak so that when he bombs those around him wont be able to hit back. (If I am reading the rules correctly).
So looking for thoughts / comments / etc

Also thank you in advance for any responses

What happens when you run that deathstar into triple Keepers, who each cause it to fight last, get two rounds of combat against it, and build an insane amount of Depravity from killing your multi-wound models and taking wounds themselves, generating new “free” Keepers almost immediately? It sounds like you’re teleporting the unit in, but can you keep your heroes safe from 30” turn one charges? If you’re building a tournament list, you need to be prepped for an army that can do 30” charges, cause you to fight last, and hit you two full combats before you even get to swing; regardless of charge. I know my HoS tourney list has 5 command points on turn one. I’d expect to see something similar from others. Plus enough magic shut down to keep your evocators from being anything more than expensive liberators.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I am new to AOS and this will be my first tournament list. So those things sound bad.

Do you have any suggestions?

Honestly, I don’t play stormcast, but I think you might want some screening chaff, like aetherwings or gryph-hounds. And the unit of 15 evocators should probably drop to 3 units of 5; gives you more casting and dispel attempts. Some artillery wouldn’t be a bad idea either. I definitely don’t want to scare you away, because the game can be a ton of fun, and I love competitive builds. But if you say you’re building a deathstar list, it sounds like you’re trying to go hard. Maybe ease into it, try minimum size units of multiple different types. I don’t think Deathstars are generally a good plan right now. Triple Keeper is scaring fits into people now (there is a huge outcry against a GW staff tourney player running 3-4 as “against the spirit of the game”), and a list like that would chew up a Stormcast deathstar list before the game even starts. So MSU is probably a better option.

In a game about taking objectives, death stars really struggle.

I agree Slaanesh is bad, but your advice is to counter with multi-wound models that have no save!

The real advice? Don't build to counter Slaanesh, at all. It will weaken you when playing against non-Slaanesh for no benefit since triple-keeper will beat you no matter what you do. Build to beat the things you can, hope not to fight the things you can't.

They do, though each of those Sequitor units can hold an objective and beat the snot out of normal objective-snaggers. Making a line with the back edge of their base just inside 6" makes it difficult for an enemy to simply walk on and grab it with numbers.

Do Gryph-Hounds have multiple wounds? If so, my bad!! I thought that was the only single wound unit they had.

Yeesh. My bad, ignore that advice then! Also ignore the “roll over and die” strategy against Triple Keepers.

Well. I have been playing AoS since it came out, been playing in tournaments of all sizes since GHB1, and predicted triple-keeper being a thing the day the book dropped. So maybe I know what I'm talking about.

I’m just saying don’t just roll over and die for it. I know it’s strong. But just giving up sucks.

Yup, but sometimes you have to pick your battles. If it's a tournament with secondary objectives you can go for those, if that doesn't matter try for the round 1-2 double, and if that doesn't work work just concede to give that dirty Slaanesh player blue balls
