Hello,

Here is a custom bit I made out of green stuff. The idea started as a flame sword but looks more like a natural Tyrranid weapon, or maybe Dark Eldar?

You can see the tools I used. I avoid sculpting with my fingers due to my fingerprints. I find that dipping the tools in water causes the green stuff to repel a little, but it does take some finesse.

You can see how the curvature of the flame hilt generally follows the outside curve of the clippers. That was useful.

Anyway, looking to apply one of these techniques to give it a blue-flame, energy sword appearance. https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/765019.page

Please let me know what you think.

Thank you!

Sorry, imgur code and file size issue. I think it works now? Reposted the images onto the dakka domain, maybe that will help.

Here is the finished product. Used opposing blue ink gradients for each side of the blade, ink wash gradient for the hilt, and a three-tone scheme for the grip to make the wrapped look pop.

I used the reverse of a square of wax paper to dab my brush, which I preferred for the ink versus blotting on a micro-fiber towel. Preferred for the paint too, really.

Also, regarding the wax paper, it was really essential during the curing process of the green-stuff "forging". I forged and sculpted on a piece of wet plastic, and then allowed drying on the gloss side of the wax paper. This allowed me to crease the wax paper beneath the dried mini-bit to peel the dried green-stuff from the paper (it was a little sticky, took a tad of force).

The sculpt consists of one mini-bit forge for the blade, one for the handle, sculpt welded to the blade, and four droplets glued to the hilt individually. Again, let everything dry on the gloss side of a piece of wax paper.
