I'm looking at a way to add the new units to my Primaris Deathwatch force, which likely means adding in a Successor Chapter. As such, I was thinking of Long Range Marksman and Master Artisans to use with Eliminators, Incursors and Suppressors I intend to ally into my Deathwatch. I think with Las Fusiles +3" range and reroll 1 hit and 1 wound is pretty awesome as the unit that only fires 2 guns a turn (assuming the sergeant is giving +1 to hit and wound).

What successor combos have caught your eye?

Unless I've missed something very significant, Deathwatch still have Mission Tactics as their chapter tactic, and cannot take successor chapter options.

Yeah, pending a major reversal by GW, Deathwatch aren't likely to play with any of the new toys for awhile yet.

They'll get the new toys, but they won't suddenly become a successor chapter.

I think OP is looking into "souping" a Space Marine Successor Chapter with an existing DW force.

This is exactly why I have to add a separate detachment with a successor chapter to add the new toys in. I already have my core deathwatch stuff and I want to add Eliminators etc. As I said in my OP these will be allied in.

This guy gets it. Also, the point of the thread was what successor tactics have caught your eye?

I read there will be a supplemental pdf and I think DW will probably get some of the new toys. I can't see why they wouldn't get the Impulsor or the updated bolt rifles.

I had originally intended to soup in the Shadowspear stuff with my Deathwatch but I think I'll just put them with the regular marines instead.

As for whats caught my eye, the Crimson Fists essentially never missing bolter shots against hordes definitely has. Wonder if they will make a big boy Pedro?

I think not going succesor but just iron hands may be a good ally for deathwatch...but for now there is so much of good stuff that I dont know myself what to use

I wouldn't be surprised if this became the standard for the majority of Successor Chapters. They're both very strong abilities.

Unless you're going heavy melee of course.

It would be nice if the Corvus could transport Primaris - I mean, it can already transport bikes, why not Primaris?

It never ends well

Primaris have cooties, duh.

Clocks for the clockmaker! Cogs for the cog throne!

The 3" bonus and the +1 to cover outside 12" are the best two together I feel.

3" bonus, except for flamers, doesn't seem that powerful. 51 instead of 48 ? 39 instead of 36 ? Wow amazing...
Pistols benefit from it the most, and maybe stuff like the demolisher cannon. What make you think it is so powerful ?

Autobolters are pretty good now, this makes them almost as long ranged as regular bolt rifles. Grenades, especially reiver ones. Flamers turning from "lol I will just charge from 8.001 inches then" into actual melee deterrent. Primaris plasma and las weapons becoming almost as long ranged as their oldmarine equivalents. Gatling cannons of both varieties desperately need range. Both new troop squads have rather mediocre range. Storm bolters, grav guns, primaris gauntlet weapons, etc, etc...

I'm tempted by the +3" tactic. I expect it to be very powerful on flamers and on extending half range for rapid fire weapons, also on the strategem to allow auto hits on the assault bolters at half range.

Not sure which other tactic to pair it with, but I like the counts as cover when more than 12" away to make camo-cloaks much more powerful.

Out of curiosity, how does everyone think the new Raven Guard tactic interacts with the Prepared Positions strategem? Does this mean all the non-vehicles will be -1 to hit and in cover for the first turn?

Only if they satisfy all conditions of the CT. IF theyre not in terrain, no -1 to hit.

It doesn't effect vehicals period the -1 to hit is infantry models only.
