Does someone have all the Special rules for the Verminlord Deceiver and the exact wording of the spell "Skitterleap" from the 8th Edition?
My problem is the following:

I play the game with German Rules and it could be there was something lost in Translation.
Skitterleap states it can only be used on Infantry but the deceiver is a Monster and it wouldnt make really sense if he must have Skitterleap as a spell if he cant use it on himself.
I read somewhere that in the english Version of "Endtimes - Thanquol" it says he can use it on himself.

1. Is it true that he can use it on himself?
2. What does the spell say in english?

I can help you with the first part of the puzzle. Exact wording:

Page 78 7th edition Skaven Army book

SKAVEN SPELLS OF RUIN

Skitterleap - Cast on a 5+
With a "Bamf!" the Skaven Sorcerer disappears in a puff of smoke to reappear elsewhere on the battlefield.
This spell can be used on any friendly infantry character within 12", even if engaged in close combat. This includes the caster (unless it is a Vermin Lord, as it is a monster).
The model may immediately be placed anywhere on the battlefield, but it must be placed at least 1" away from enemy models.

The answer to your question is Yes, the Deceiver can use Skitterleap on himself. The Deceiver has his own rules on page 28 of the Thranqual End Times book, he has a special rule, Shadowstrider, that allows him to cast it on himself.




Other Verminlords cannot use Skitterleap on themselves, per the spell itself page 78 of the Skaven book.

That was the time when GW closed their European presence and sent back everything to a small team on HQ.

Translations became notoriously amateurish, unit names for the most part went untranslated and some releases (like the end times) came trimmed of fluff while others (like spell cards IIRC) they didn't bother to translate at all and were released in English only.

Looking at the wording this does mean that if you have another caster with Skitterleap then it cannot be cast on the Deceiver by that caster. Shadowstrider is a self cast augment power only. Skitterleap can be cast on third parties, and can be cast by a Verminlord, but not on a Verminlord.

Keep this in mind if you end up with a sorcerer with Skitterleap and choose another spell for the Deceiver. You may catch yourself out.
